Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy Amber with a thick off white head.

Smell: Very strong citrus smell with pine notes.

Mouthfeel/ Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of bitter hops and pine notes. Light citrus.

Overall: Not a bad beer. But far from the best pale ale. I would not go out of my way to have it again.

Look: Standard coloration, but with fizzy bubbles. Okay head.
Smell: Fine, non-distinctive.
Taste: Not bad, though a little thin. The hop profile is relatively simple, though the bitterness level is nice.
Feel: Like the look, a bit fizzier than my tastes.
Overall: Not a terrible pale ale, but not especially good.

Clear golden colored pour with a foamy one-finger white head. Nice juicy citrus hop aroma. Big but not overpowering hop flavor on first sip. Flavor is very nicely balanced between citrus and piney flavors. Some sips one flavor stands out more and and on other sips the other flavor is predominant. Can also taste a bread and cracker flavor in the back end. Light bodied, moderately carbonated and drinks really easy.

While visiting NC I try to drink as many different local beers that I can get. I had been to this brewery a few years ago and liked many of their products.

Typically, I buy the Buckshot Ale but have lately acquired a taste for Pale Ales and IPAs. So I bought this. The smell and taste were great. This is a good Pale Ale. Try it if you can find it in your area.

Drink local. Solid North Carolina brew with an abundance of hops. Very respectable IPA for a local market. Not extraoradinary, but beer should beer local. When in North Carolina, choose this over "imports" with wide distribution.
