Poured into a Duvel tulip. No freshness date.

A- Pours a mostly opaque dark brown color with a ½ inch light tan head that retains a bit before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- Big acidic aroma brings forth notes of tart cherry, oak and green apple.

T- Assertively sour but complex with lots of tannic structure and dark fruit. There’s also a hint of vanilla on the back end. Also getting this interesting cantaloupe thing in the aftertaste.

M- Medium-high amount of pucker with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.

O- This year’s seems more like an Oud Bruin than a Flanders Red. No complaints here since it’s just as satisfying as last year’s if not more so.

Appearance: Pours with a frothy head nestled atop the chestnut colored liquid; squiggles of lacing linger

Smell: Caramel malt, lactic cherry, oak and a hint of vanilla

Taste: Caramel and brown bread, with building lactic sour cherry tones and a hint of vanilla; after the swallow, the oak rounds out the flavor and adds a dryness to the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body; slightly creamy with moderate carbonation

Overall: Natty's now has this recipe down pat; always a treat to try and it ages nicely

Thanks Neal.

Clear mahogany body with a soapy beige cap. Aromas of oak, cherry, vanilla, funk. The flavor is a notch below the aroma. Light body. Mild sweetness. Brown bread and cherry character. Mild tartness with moderate funk character.
