Drinking this at The Natty Greene's Brewing Company in downtown Greensboro NC.
Poured from a tap into a pint glass.
Looks reddish Amber, with a light tannish foamy head that dropped quickly to a thin ring.
Smells lightly bready, malty, sweet, spicy, cinnamon.
Taste follows the nose nicely with the malt upfront.
Mouth feel is medium for the style.
Overall a very example of a Winter Ale
That I would definitely order again.

Much much better on tap. Good subtlety with its spices.

 

From a 12oz bottle. Deep reddish brown color, head dissipates immediately. Smells of malt and spices. Light feel. Strong malt base with some sweetness and spices. Good for the style. Better with food than alone.

Poured into standard pint glass, at slightly-warmer-than-preferred temp. Deep amber pour, with fine sediment, and light beige head. Head reduces to nothing after a few minutes. Molassas heavy, with slight orange rind and raspberry off the nose. More pronounced orange in the taste, resolves with nice tart bitterness and ginger snap. Mouthful brings out more cinnamon, but it’s underwhelming.

Overall, not a bad winter sipper.

 

I'm trying this at my Bestie's house in Charlotte.....obviously been in there a while. The beer poured a clear mahogany with no head and no lace. The scent had hints of wintry spice. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Appearance: Pours a very dark, deep red-hued body with a very small, beige head.

Smell: Tangy-scented, almost berry-ish nose. Deep toast. Spicy touches of ginger, dried orange and cinnamon stand out. Smells alright, smell okay.

Taste: Sweetish, bready and toasty malt tastes with a touch of grain and sweet iced tea. Satisfactory spice blend, but it's underneath a somewhat uninteresting, unappealing layer of maltiness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: The beer looks nice enough. All downhill from there, unfortunately.

Medium brown pour with little head. Not much of a nose but a hint of winter spice (clove, cinnamon, etc.), which really shows itself in the flavor with a strong malty backbone. Though I wouldn't say the spice character is overwhelming, as it can be in some winter ales. Same can be said of the sweetness which can be cloying in comparable attempts at a moderately strong winter beer.
