Taster at North Country. Near black pour, thin, fine beige head. Light roasty aroma, notes of chocolate. Aroma is sweet and roasty, chocolate, cherry coke. Lingering bitterness.

Working on cleaning up the backlog of notes I have. Sample enjoyed on the rooftop at Sienna Mercato.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is solid black, head is light tan with fine bubbles and presents 1 finger thick, head dissipates to a ring and spotty top with light lacing.
Smell is mixed malt: roast, chocolate, light crystal, and light creaminess; definite hop aroma of light grass and herbal notes, hint of earth and pine.
Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, crystal sweetness, some creaminess then a hop character that is earthy and grassy, light pine.
Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness with a lingering creaminess.
Overall a full bodied, roasty, chocolatey stout with a moderate hop character and light lingering sweetness.

Pours dark with tan head. Aroma isn’t pleasant which matches the taste. Taste is like a buck snout. I have 5 more to suffer through to finish my six pack. Really disappointing.

A bit too bitter for my taste. Not much sweetness. Alcohol is hidden.

Poured a black body with great and long-lasting tan head. The aroma is mostly a roasted and grainy malt aroma with little else. Fuller-bodied, slightly dry, roasted malts with an almost coffee malt flavor with a dry, toasty edge and not off but this beer doesn't really settle with me (don't get any funky ingredients, though). Not a bad stout but really non-descript and worth trying but that is it.

Pour is black from all angles with a dark tan head. Dark chocolate and char on the nose, as well as a distinct piney hop aroma.
The piney hops are really forward on the taste, but the dark chocolate and char flavors tame the hop beast. This is a nice spin in the “traditional” stout, I’d have this in my beer fridge always if I had access to it.

Buck Snort - North Country Brew Co
West Coast style stout - 7% abv
Canned 12/6/17
Purchased for $2.29 at Monde Market
L - 2.5 finger hazelnut head atop a black body.
S - roast, bread, citrusy hops. Smells more like a black ipa than a stout.
T - soy sauce, roast, smoke. Citrus and dirty/earthy hops. Quite a bitter finish. No sweetness. Very little detectable booze.
F - medium body with higher than average carb.
O - I just can’t get past the soy sauce in the taste. That aspect ruins a stout for me, and this one has it in spades.

Black, thin off white head. Decent lacing. Moderately roasty aroma, some earthy hops. Well balanced flavor, not too sweet nor dry. Medium bodied.
