Thanks to @tamisbutler for the sample

Aroma: Pleasant chocolate and dark bready aromas up front. Light coffee character. Clean fermentation character.

Appearance: Jet black pour with a low khaki head. Head retention is poor but laces and rings the snifter nicely.

Flavor: Firm chocolate goodness on the front end. Has a creamed coffee character to it as well. Moderate earthy hop bitterness. Balance is to the bitterness. Roastiness provides a nice counterpoint. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste lingers with powdered cocoa character .

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderately-high carbonation. Slight dark grain astringency. No heat or creaminess.

Overall impression: A very approachable roasty American stout. Worth a try.

My favorite offering that I had from North Country, came in a standard pint glass a a deep pitch black with a one finger sized roasted almond colored head.Heavily roasted malt, deep espresso roast aromas with some unsweetenend chocolate and a hint of mollasses as well. The flavors near intense in its roasted character and slightly burnt with a big dry earthy presence from a healthy dose of hops to round it out.Not a stout for the meak its roasted to the hilt and has big hops, personally I love it.

I love all the canned beer available from these smaller PA breweries, it's a good trend...I remember having this on tap at the source a few years back. The can pours pitch black bodied stout with just barely ruby highlights, big thicket of tan head forms thick dimpled cloudy texture speckled lacing scattered. Aroma roasted dark malts provide hints of dark chocolate/coffee, nice herbal mint notes that work well within the hop/malt combo. Medium bodied creamy texture with mellow carbonation. Easy to drink nice stout in a can.

Enjoyed form the can in a snifter. This roasted beast of a stout pours a nice thick black with a fantastic head of light brown foam that lingers long in the glass forming a thick layer and mighty ring with some beautiful lacing. Nose of deeply roasted malt, cocoa, char, and subtle sweetness to the background. Flavors surpass the nose with fantastic deeply roasted malts showing flavors of dark coffee and dark bakers chocolate that is moderately sweetened with black strap molasses that finishes with a nutty roasted malt bitterness that lingers. Creamy mouth feel finishes dry and subtly smoked. Excellent carbonation keeps it lively. An excellent every day sort of stout.

A thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1 inch head. Smell is a bit sweet, chocolatey. Taste is roasted malts, some hops, a hint of chocolate, surprising bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.
