A- Dark Brown Root Beer colored. 1/4 head dropping to 1/8 ring. No lacing.
A- light carmel malt with little hops.
T- just as it smells, light carmel malt and small on the hops. balanced
M- seems more like an amber....
D- Acceptable yet not exceptional....I was looking for more.

I'm not generally a fan of Brown Ales, as I find most of them pretty boring (DFH Indian Brown being a notable exception).

Carver's Colorado Trail Nut Brown Ale is another exception. This is a much better beer than most brown ales, with a depth of flavor that makes me sit up, take notice, and want another. I first had this beer a year ago, at a time when I wasn't reviewing any beers, and I remember being impressed. Revisiting it again a couple of days ago, I found that it's just as good as I thought then.

This was my first beer off the trail....totally appropriate.

It was a pretty brown color and had a nutty flavor. Compared to the iodine treated water I had had for the last month it was amazing.

It was not the best brown ale of all time, the head did not last long and the taste was pretty average. That said it was totally drinkable. Its a great "with food" beer.
