A good beer for the summer and for those whom dont like the flavor of beer. It tastes more like a wine cooler than a beer to me. But perhaps that is indeed the aim of this brew. Its mostly grapefruit with a hint of beer in flavor vs the opposite. Easy to drink many in a row and quickly as it doesnt taste as it has high quantities of alcohol. Mainly because it doesnt have much alc/volume and the grapefruit flavor is very strong.

A medium-strong pour from a 12-oz. can yields a finger of white-orange soapy, almost creamy foam with average retention that shrinks to an island and then a thin ring. Apricot-straw color with orange-straw highlights. And that's the good news.

The bad news is the smell is orange soda and Tang with both aspirin and Aspartame.

Sharp and sour taste of artificial fruit, sour candy plus some grapefruit flavor that is almost fresh. Neutral sweetness with low bitterness (not identifiable as hops), the sour is a little strong. Sour tastes diminish a little at the semi-dry finish, all above tastes linger too long.

Medium-light body, flattens halfway through the drink. Flavors conflict and are confusing, there is however a faint wheat malt taste that is welcomed. Alcohol is well hidden.

There are some positive attributes to this beer yet the unmistakable fake sour fruit taste is hard to get by. (PKG 6/6/19)

can to pint glass.

AROMA: Orange creamsicle (citrus and vanilla) aroma.
TASTE: very sweet, a little too much so. Orange and vanilla, touch of milk sugars. Sherbet. Ugh, nice at first but drains you after a few ounces.
Feel is very thick and sticky. The stickiness also drains on you as you get through 12oz. like a melting ice cream popsicle getting all over your hands.

Not something I would buy again. even for the summer. Probably needs to be poured over ice.

Hate all you want you lil' bastards, this is crazy refreshing -- more like a radler than a shandy thanks to its soda-like effervescence, this is a beer I could pound and pound during the heat of summer. Light, refreshing, tart, a little sweet, plenty of grapefruit... tastes more like grapefruit juice than beer -- especially on the front -- but it's also a shandy/radler. I fecking dig it.

Harpoon's UFO Big Squeeze Shandy has a thick, fizzy white head, which goes right away and an opaque orange-pink appearance. No lacing is left behind. The aroma is of grapefruit and sweet, somewhat yeasty, pale malt. Taste is of that, with no noticeable bitterness and a nice fruit tartness. Mouthfeel is high medium, and UFO Big Squeeze finishes medium dry and highly drinkable.

Not a bad beer on a nice hot day or when at the beach...it's refreshing but the taste is more fruity than anything else....like it better than the Leinenkugel offerings...

Growler into pint glass. Pours a hazy orange color with a pinkish cast to it. Thin off-white head. Initial impression is sweetened grapefruit juice with maybe some orange in the background. Medium mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Doesn't taste anything like a beer. You could substitute this for your breakfast OJ if you're so inclined. (I'm not.)
Shandys are not my cup of tea. Maybe I can palm this off on the wife.....

An unfiltered, pink grapefruit juice look.
Sweet, malty smell with little hint of grapefruit juice.
Taste is a sweet grapefruit, slightly malty juice. As a fan of grapefruit juice is is a refreshing difference from the usual lemon shandys.
Feel of a watery fruit juice.
Overall, this is a refreshingly good summer brew. Would be great sitting in the backyard on a hot day with a cold one.

Really good Shandy, especially if you like grapefruit or want something different than the standard lemon ones. Note: it's a UFO by Harpoon "unfiltered offering" so it's supposed to be hazy. Really good on a summer day... I've kept a stock for the off season when I need something light and fun.

Appearance: Hazy, opaque orange, bordering on pink, with a small, somewhat coarse white head, which quickly fades to a dusting of foam on the surface. Coarse, scattered, broken lacing lines the glass walls.

Aroma: The aroma is like that of a typical wheat beer, infused with grapefruit juice.

Taste: Opens with pleasant, bread-like wheat malt, soon followed by a surge of grapefruit juice. UFO Big Squeeze Shandy presents none of the bitterness or sour flavors typically associated with grapefruit juice, and sometimes associated with wheat ales.As the taste progresses, the grapefruit juice flavor abates a bit, finishing a touch dry with a little residual malt sweetness.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, full, with slight carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: A pleasant, refreshing warm-weather beer, or perhaps a Radler with a relatively high ABV. To be sure, this is very easy to drink, but those used to the low ABV European Radlers should note that this packs somewhat more of a punch.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Right off the pour it looks like a glass of carbonated grapefruit juice. The grapefruit smell and taste dominates the beer. It really doesn't make me feel like I am drinking a beer, it taste more like a carbonated grapefruit juice or soda. The pinkness of the brew is a beautiful site, but I just don't really dig the taste as much as I would have hoped to. This is definitely a grapefruit lovers dream brew, but I am not a fan of shandy styles overall. This would be a fantastic breakfast brew or summer brew especially if you like less beer taste to your beer. I am sorry for me this was a miss.

Pours a hazy yellowish-orange color. The nose is super citrusy but more like overripe oranges and grapefruits than fresh fruit. Grapefruit and orange flavors abound but this light-bodied concoction is more like a cocktail than a beer.

Didn't want to like this because I don't usually like flavored or fruit beers, but grapefruit works well here. Refreshing on a hot day but I can only have one before moving on to an unadulterated beer.

Pours very cloudy (Read UFO: Unfiltered Offering) with minimal head. Very sweet with almost exclusive grapefruit flavoring. Not bad for a summer beer if needing a break from the usual shandies offered elsewhere.

A: This 'brew' looks really nice when poured into a glass. It's a nice amber orange color with a single finger of white head, indicating a healthy level of carbonation.

S: Smell recedes to basically straight sweetened grapefruit juice. Gaining anything else from the aroma is a failed effort.

T: Follows nose, straight sweet grapefruit. Really tastes more like a fruit soda than a beer.

M: Would have a lighter mouth feel if not so sweet. A little thick on the palate but nicely carbonated.

O: Not a bad novelty beverage, but just not for me.

Sorry, but this beer is gross. Tastes like concentrated grapefruit juice mixed with beer. After trying BP Grapefruit Sculpin before this, I could not be more disappointed.

Got talked into buying a sixer of this by a harpoon rep at my local beer store. Hey, got a really cool stainless steel bottle opener out of it, along with a pretty tasty beer. A bit sweet & a little sour. Tastes better than it smells. Very nice.

This being a shandy, you shouldn't expect too much malt flavor from this. It's so lightly malted that you can barely taste it, which is a good or a bad thing depending on who's drinking this.

It's an interesting twist on the typical shandy, substituting grapefruit juice for the usual lemonade. A lot of mass produced shandies end up tasting overly sweet, and can smell like Lemon Pledge (Shock Top), but this is deliciously tart by comparison, with a good punch of grapefruit flavor. A little sugar balances it out and prevents it from being puckeringly sour. A decent amount of carbonation makes this drink more like seltzer than beer. Worth checking out, and great for the summer, but any beer fanatics should know by now to steer clear of most shandies if they're looking for malty or bitter flavors.

Look: Pours very orange in color. Almost looks just like grapefruit juice. Pours with a nice head which very quckly fades to nothing.

Smell: Very powerful citrus aromas. Grapefruit obviously. But just an overall smell of citrus. I don't get any malt or hops from the beer. The grapefruit is dominant

Taste: This has almost literally no hint of hops, malts, anything that usually attributes to the flavor of a beer. It is allllll grapefruit.

Feel: It feels like carbonated juice.

Overall: Great for the summer, esepcailly if you're into this style.

It's warm out and a 12er of these was cheap.

I like grapefruit. It is difficult to eat and therefore the among manliest of produce. Sissyboys drink orange juice or lemonade while Real Men, like yours truly, eat a whole grapefruit--skin and all--every morning. Then we make love to each other.

I also don't know what to make of Harpoon. They are kind of legendary as they were one of the first widely distributed craft brands. They are also held in ill esteem by contemporary beersmen because of the perceived meekness of their brews. Personally, I still love SA Boston Lager, but I find Harpoon's IPA unpalatably bland. Most of their other beers are the same--certainly not badly brewed, but really not my style (their Leviathan imperial pils was probably the most underrated beer I ever had, though).

Big Squeeze UFO is simultaneously the most and least bland Harpoon beer I've ever had, simply because its juiciness is to aggressive. It tastes hand-blended, and I'd be shocked if this didn't have the highest juice-to-beer ratio of any pre-packaged shandy on the market.

The result is straightforward: tart grapefruit juice mixed with a solid, thick witbier. It goes down smooth as milk and tastes, frankly great.

Pours a hazed orange color with a white head and some lacing. Looks proper. Smells like citrus soda, wheat and dogs breath. The taste is about the same, very artificial tasting, cloying sweetness, soda like generic grapefruit orange flavor. A touch of wheat surrounding orange corn syrup. Soda like carbonation. Cloying awful sweet finish. This is a terrible beer. I like a well made shandy, this is not one.

For what this is, a grapefruit juice powered shandy, It's pretty darn good. Light, fruity, refreshing. A great summer drink, and now my go-to shandy for those times that a shandy is called for.
