Very Good
Flannel FridayFlannel Friday
Notes: Layer Up. There are subtle, but unmistakable signs... The first hint of a chill in the air. The first few leaves that start to turn. The first day at the brewery when everyone shows up in flannel. That announce the arrival of fall.

Beautifully-clear dark amber with a finger-and-a-half of light tan head with good retention, leaving thick sheets of lacing.

Sweet aroma with caramel red malt, a touch of bread and an even lighter touch of allspice.

Very clean tasting -- not as sweet at all as the nose had me expecting. There's a kiss of caramel sweetness, but the beer is fairly dry with a nice breadiness layered on top of everything. Modest bitterness in the finish.

Medium to full bodied with a nice slickness to the feel. Light carbonation, but by no means still.

This is an excellent fall beer. It has a kiss of sweetness to it and some depth to the malt profile, but is still well balanced and quaffable.

I was looking for a fall seasonal and came across this. I have never been disappointed by Harpoon so I gave it a try. Poured golden amber with a decent amount of head that hangs around. Smells bready. My first sip was quite a surprise. It is delicious. For an amber ale it is not overly sweet. The hops and malts do not compete. It is crisp and tasty with the right amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is perfect with just a touch of sticky on the lips. Sweet up front with a touch of bitterness on a great finish. I get fruit, candy, caramel but just enough to give it character. Overall an outstanding fall beer. It is on my A list for down at the cabin.

Poured into a shaker pint glass: color is dark copper, head is light tan with small bubbles with some lacing on the glass; head lingers well.

Smell is pleasantly hoppy with solid toasty and caramel malts; hops are piney and citrusy.

Taste is similar to the aroma with great hop forward flavor, toasty and moderate caramel malts, nice citrus/pine/earthy hop blend.

Mouthfeel is crisp with dry, bitter hoppiness and moderate carbonation.

Overall a very good beer, nice to have a solid amber ale amongst the onslaught of ipas.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a bronze color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, toasted malts. Taste is mild citrus, light malts, some earthy notes. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is an easy drinking and decent beer.

Enjoy by 11/15/16. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a transparent copper with great clarity; fluffy off-white/light tan head that slowly falls leaving great retention and very sticky lacing. The aromas have a nice balance between the malts and hops. Lots of caramel, toffee and citrus. Slightly floral. The flavors follow the nose perfectly. Lots of sticky caramel followed by some citrus notes. There's some grapefruit, lemon and orange in the mix. Hints of pine. Solid bitterness. Very solid malt backbone. There's also a very subtle spiciness. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is nice. It's light with moderate carbonation. It's very fluffy and smooth. Very easy to drink.

This is a nice brew. It's basically a hoppy red ale. It's very fitting for the fall weather. Well crafted. I like it.

Definitely a new flavor of beer, amber with a bit of hop, like this one for autumn tastebuds.
