Framboise, French for "raspberry", is a Belgian-style fruit lambic. Made with more than 4,600 pounds of raspberries, 50% wheat at a gravity of 14°p it has all the makings of a great summer time beer. Highly carbonated, it produces a wonderfully pink, lacey head. The burgundy color foretells of intense raspberry aromas. A nice, sweet start finishing with a tart and acidic finish that is light and refreshing.

Serving type from 22 ounce bomber. Poured into a wide mouth goblet.

Appearance: It has a hazy darker pink/ almost red coloration. Produced a fingers width head that quickly went away leaving a trace pink film on the surface of the beer.

Smell: Smells like a combination of yeast and vinegar.

Taste: The taste is similar to the smell a little yeast and a lot of vinegar. Where is the Raspberry? Nowhere that I could taste or smell. I am pretty sure cat piss would taste better.

Mouthfeel: Between the vinegary taste and the watery mouthfeel. Just terrible.

Drinkability: Buy something else. I feel like I was ripped off at $4.00 a bottle.

The beer looked ok but then it was all down hill. I would rate this beer even lower if I could.

pours a hazy ruby color with a small head that fizzles into almost nothing. looks very similar to the other framboise i've had before.

smells very sour and tart (as it should). subtle hints of raspberry with some yeast smells. again-- very similar to the framboise i've had before.

tastes good. tart and sour flavors up front with raspberry follwing close behind. leaves an almost bitter flavor. alcohols are sort of noticible. this is a fairly good representation of the framboise lambic style. sweet, but the tartness definitely balances things nicely

mouthfeel is good. nicely carbonated as a lambic should be

drinkability is good-- but its too sweet to drink a ton of these

overall-- i got a cheap 6 pack of these and knew they were old, but theyve seemed to held up well. i probably wouldnt grab these again, but its certainly worth a shot if you want a lambic style beer.

Split the bomber 3 ways.

A: Cloudy brown copper color. 1.2 finger of white head.

S: Sour rasberries. Tartness.

T: Tart fruit. The aftertaste is just overwhelming tartness. Think this one is past its prime a little bit.

M: Felt stale on the tongue. Again this beer is probably past its prime.

D: Too tart with not enough balance. Drain pour for me.

Picked up a bomber of this on 3/15/08 with some apprehension as to the quality- arpx 2 y/o at only 5.3%. Scary. I didn't think it was as bad as the other two folks who split it with me.

A- Poured a cloudy pinkish brown with a fluffy creamy-pink head.

S- Pretty solid raspberry nose with some lambic sourness

T- Tart raspberry during intial taste. Finishes like over-ripe sour raspberries. I'm REALLY suprised at how this has held up- my expectaitions were low going in.

M- A bit on the thin side with little carbonation

D- A bit on the tart side for quick consumption. This would be good with a salad course.

Nice 12oz bottle sent from gpcollen1 for my BA annv – Salud!

A semi-hazy pour of cherry red, nice rosy head bubbles up. Of course, raspberries in the aroma and the quaff. They start sweet, not to cloying, then finishes tart and dry. This is nicely done, but still after a full bottle, it starts to load up on you. A good desert beer, ‘cause it’s defiantly one and done.

A - this beer pours a light pink with a big fizzy short lived pink tinged tannish head, plenty of noticeable carbonation

S - smells of raspberry jam, a nice strong accurate raspberry aroma, not too strong but not too weak

T - the flavors are rather good, separate, the raspberry and the hoppiness are both pretty darn tasty, but the thop are a little to bitter to mesh with the raspberry well, overall it makes a very tart raspberry flavor with a hop finish

M&D - a bit too tart to be enjoyed thouroughly, and quite fizzy, which slightly disrupts the palate, a decent fruit beer, well above SA Cherry Wheat, but not on the same level as a Red Bach or the same planet as NG Wisc Belgian Red

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark red color with a thin pinkish off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is very fruity and tart with the smell of raspberries.

T: The taste is likewise all fruit. The label reads “beer with raspberry puree added” and that’s pretty much all you can taste. The tart and slightly sweet flavor of raspberries takes dominance with very little of anything else even coming close to being tasted. The malt character is thin and the hops presence is very mild. The after-taste is slightly sour.

M: Crisp but not very smooth, light-to-medium body, medium-to-heavy carbonation, slightly sticky finish.

D: Not very tasty, doesn’t go down too easily for me, not very filling, I suppose it’s drinkable if you like the raspberry flavor, but this beer really doesn’t do much for me. I don’t think this was one of the better choices of the 100BBL Series to pick for an encore.

22 oz bottle, from session 11

This beer is all over the place. The smell is fantastic, with an aroma of fresh strawberries. The taste, however, does not quite live up to it. Very acidic and sour, it is a bit too much like a "malternitive" and not enough like a beer. The inital sip is actually fairly good, quite similar to the aroma. But as soon as that fades away, it's replaced by a sour taste. For this reason, I have to give the mouthfeel a fairly bad 2.0.

I have to say that I'm fairly disappointed. Finding a good lambic is pretty tough. I'll have to try some of the higher rated lambics because getting a dud sucks.

This beer is pretty cloudy with a reddish brown body and a slightly pink bubbly head. It has a sour raspberry aroma that almost smells like there is some brett or lacto in there. It has a good lambic sour bite to it, which is slightly surprising because the bottle says framboise "style ale" which made me think it would be an ale with raspberry added. It is very light bodied with high carbonation. There is a sour note in there somewhere that almost tastes like spoiled fruit, but it hides in the background and I can't exactly pin it down.

Bottle shared by crosling...thanks for the opportunity. Pours a thin redish head over a cloudy brown liquid. Red edgings. Smells of raspberry (surprise!). Doesn't have the tannins I would expect from raspberry seeds.

Tastes raspberry, but not potent sweet. Some drying woody tapers the finish as the lacto tart rises to clean the palette. Simple, not particularly stellar. Md body and way too much carbonation for my preferences.

Appearance - Color is a light color, pink reddish color. No head , just around the glass, no lace.

Smell - Very fruity like rasberry and strawberry.

Mouthfeel -Very light, sweet. light carbination.

Taste - Very light, refreshing, like a wine, or winecooler, then it hits you with a beer taste at the end.

Drinkability - Not bad, light beer, worth a try though. Limited.

A buddy of mine gave me a six-pack of this as a gift. Thanks, turbod33.

Appearance: maroon, transparent with about a 3/4" off white head off the pour; it seems to pour much like pop with a little crackling sound to for some carbonation
Smell: raspberries with some dark wine smell
Taste: not bad, but nothing too impressive; this is something that might good in the middle of the day with lunch or something being that it's so fruity; obviously raspberries dominate the taste; it's hard for me to put my finger on any other taste so im gonna stop here
Mouthfeel: light to medium bodied; decent for a fruit beer
Drinkability: two in a row might not be too pleasing, but the one im on right now is going down pretty well

Note: this beer gets better the warmer it gets; i should've suspected that with a fruit beer; i think my next one i'll let sit out for about 15 minutes to let it warm up before i drink it

appearance: blush, burnt orange, small ring of head with skeleton faces appearing intermitantly - spoooky

smell: not surprisingly sweet raspberry mixed with beer

taste: bitter beer left me wondering "where'd the raspberry go? i don't know!"

mouthfeel: nice carb for the tip of the tongue, but a little flat and bitter. no creamy fizz like lindemans (my fav)

drinkability: if forced i could drink this, but wouldn't choose it. it's like someone took my lindemans framboise and mixed it with Bud Light. : /

Thanks to lpayette for shipping this one across the country.

Appearance: Looks shockingly like cranberry soda with a nice white head. There's the slightest haze to this beer, but other than that it's pretty vibrant.

Smell: Again a soda theme, except this time the raspberries make a presence. There's a light sweet malt undertone and a hint of candy. This is kind of appealing.

Taste: Raspberry soda in the taste as well with a suprising aftertaste that's heavily wheatish. There's also a slightly hayish characteristic, but it's too watery to appreciate it much.

Mouthfeel: Watery as I said above with a slight rough texture. It's crisp though, and that's a bonus.

Drinkability: This is a rather uninteresting beer, and so it's not so drinkable. If they brew it again, I'll probably have it to see how the recipe might change.
