UFO Raspberry HefeweizenUFO Raspberry Hefeweizen
Notes: We have added natural raspberry flavor to our UFO Hefeweizen to create this beer. Consistent with the hefeweizen style, this beer is unfiltered and cloudy with a solid foamy head. UFO Raspberry has a distinctive, hazy rose color. The scent of fresh raspberries hits the nose immediately, along with a subtle bready aroma from the wheat and yeast. The body is light and the unfiltered yeast provides a soft mouthfeel. The taste of the fruit compliments the beer nicely, neither overwhelms the other. There is a faint sweetness on the palate, which finishes cleanly in a semi-dry, tart finish.

pours very pretty ,cloudy orangy golden with a hint of a reddish hue, nice looking 1/2 inch head, briefly. fades quick and not much lacing
smells yeasty, raspberry jam, none of the perfume smell some cheap fruit beers exhibit.obvious but not overpowering.
first taste was impressive, nice raspberry and wheat malt finish, crisp, a little funk at the end. after a few sips it started to get boring, not enough happening, not enough 'beer' flavor
feels light, crisp, refreshing, some wheat maltiness but a little watery
overall this is a nice, refreshing raspberry beer pop for adults, not to sweet, very refreshing and at 4.8 abv it's sessionable, perfect for a daytime picnic or warm weather activity where the beer is not the focus but your refreshment of choice is beer

33CL bottle poured aggressively into a Schneider Weisse glass.

A- 2-3 finger rocky head that reduces quickly, orange amber in colour, a bit of chill haze. Lacing is minimal. Lively beading.

S- Strong fresh raspberry scent. Faint light floral banana esters underneath the raspberry

T- Fresh raspberry sour sweetness up front, but this fades all too quickly to a very watery flavourless finish. Faint wheat bubblegum in there also.

M- High carbonation, crisp but thin and watery

D- The smell and introduction on the tongue make this a very appealing beer. Although it all disappears too quickly to a watery disappointment.
Can see this being refreshing in the summer, but i would still plump for a reputable german weizen such as Weihenstephan or a frambozen from liefmans for something fruit based.

L: Hazy pink tinted raspberry color under a thin white foam collar.
S: You can smell the raspberries from several feet away.
T: This has a big raspberry palate with a balance of sweet and tart over light bread. The raspberry masks the traditional hefeweizen flavors but the banana is in the back providing balance.
F: Medium to medium full body, a touch of tartness from the raspberries.
O: This captures the raspberryness without coming across like Bartles and james or some kind of pop wine. Light sweetness but not cloying.

I got to try this at a Harpoon introduction in NH. Not a huge fruit beer fan, but I couldn't pass this one up. The pub was a bit smokey and I was not offered a glass to pour the beer into so I can't say much about appearance or smell. Seems everyone that was trying the brew had a bottle only last night.

T - raspberry and wheat. No surprise there. What did sort of surprise me is this brew was sweeter than expected for a rasberry brew. Not quite the tart raspberry experience I have noticed in other examples of the style. A few tables around me commented on this as well.

M - Light on the tongue. The flavors make their prescence known then mellow out to an even consistent drink.

D - Easy to drink. I can see this being a summer cookout beer or a easy choice at a party where the drink of choice is typically more mainstream.

poured from a 12 oz bottle into a glass

A- cloudy, as a hefe should be. the color had a pinkish hue to it, but it was nothing exciting. The head was white and disapated quite quickly, surprising for a beer, almost like sprite or something.

S- smelled wonderful. okay, it smelled like candy raspberry but so what? i think its great, and i could still smell the wheat from the beer.

T- wow, raspberry! i'm starting to like this whole flavored beer thing. the raspberry really complimented the unfiltered wheatiness well. it was crisp and delicious.

M- original UFO is hella-smooth, and this one is no exception. hella smooth and well carbonated.

D- i liked this beer a lot. another great Harpoon beer. damn Massachusetts makes great beer! now i know some people say that "it tastes like cough syrup" well i say so what? are you expecting fresh fruit in a bottle of beer? i'm not! when i buy a fruit beer im not buying it and expecting to have to pick seeds out of my teeth. okay enough of my tangent. this beer was very tasty for anyone who likes raspberry.

After going up the brewwery over a month ago, i knew a rasberry beer was soon on its way, you could smell it everywhere. It is a very subdued rasberry flaovr which is a great thing. Not to fruity with no real aftertaste. Would make a great summer beer, however I think I still like the original UFO better with some lemon. It is definetly worth a try.

Had a free sample of this when my twin sister and I went to a beer tasting this past Saturday at the brewery in Boston when I was on vacation there visiting her. Served to me in a 5 oz sample glass. This beer is a cloudy pale amber/orange color with a red hue. The white head was about 1/4 inch when served. Settles fairly quickly to a nice ring lining the inside of the glass. has a nice raspberry aroma and not much else. Has a sweet, tart wheat malt flavor along with the raspberry of course. Not much hops if any at all. Has a crisp, smooth, light to medium bodied mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Very easy to drink. I really liked this. Wonder if I can find this one back home.

Appearance: light amber with a pink haze.

Smell: a bit berryish.

Taste: tart raspberry. Not too strong, maybe even a bit watery.

Mouthfeel: wet. Um... wet and a bit juicy.

Overall: this was... generally nice. Nothing special, but enjoyable and refreshing. I know my review sounds 'meh', if anything, but I would buy this again for a summer quencher.

A - this Harpoon offering pours an amber color and wells up a half finger of pure white head

S - of course, the smell is owned by the raspberriness, other than that theres not much, oh wait, a slight int of wheatiness, a grainy aroma

T - wow, surprisingly a balanced sweetness, the raspberry flavor is kept in control, there is a firm wheat body along with it, and it is balanced with a great hoppy bitterness

M - very firm, a great body balance, very very refreshing

D - very high, one of the best fruit beers i have ever had

Appearance: Cloudy amber. Enticing. Thick head dissipates quickly to nearly nothing. Lacing exists but minimal.

Smell: Fruit be bangin'. Raspberry dominant as expected.

Taste: Guess what? Raspberry. My term tonight is "tartnice". No malt or hop character to be discerned. If 'summer girl time' is what you want, the is the route to drive.

Mouthfeel: High carbonation bites like a ferret (not a bad thing). Quite sticky. Leaves a feeling on the tongue similar to the soft side of Velcro.

Overall: My comment is "I see what you did there". I'm okay with it for what is is truly supposed to be. Your wife will love it. Hop thugs beware. It's good. Passes the back deck summer test with no issues.

This beer has gotten some sub-par comments, and though I understand where they're coming from I suspect they've not experienced this beer in the proper setting: mid-summer, outside in the hot sun, with marianated meats sizzling on a friend's nearby grill.

Wheat beers are notoriously summer quafs, and the Raspberry UFO is no exception. A crisp, tart rasberry taste that isn't overpowering and peters out nicely. Mouthfeel is clean and dry, not sticky as with alot of fruit beers.

Highly recommend this selection for those hot summer days ahead!
