Medium body, with a decent bitter bite. Monstrous mounds of head, with almost no aroma present. Golden-straw color, light seems be absorbed by it.

Overall, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm glad I tried Harpoon's I.P.A.. Definitely glad I tried it because it is quite good. Nothing spectacular, but quite refreshing.

a- copper color with minimal head and no retention that i can see. Looks like a pale ale.

s- lots of floral and bitter hops.

glug glug glug
t- ok, hops up front, grassy, bitter and kind of flowery in a way. a combo of a strong bite and some softer flavors. didnt notice the malt too much. leaves a pleasant taste behind, and the more i drink it the better the taste sits with me...duh.

m- thicker then the reg. pale. this is just fine by me.

d- i feel i could only session one of these due to all the hops and what not. good, but in a style I'm still feeling out somewhat.

Pours a clear light copper with a half finger of fluffy white head that dissipated quickly. The nose is only mildly hoppy. Overall, the flavor profile is quite light as well. The finish is slightly hoppy, but I have had top-shelf APAs that are hoppier than this offering.

12oz bottle poured into pint glass

A- rich light golden color with white creamy head about 1 and half fingers, minimal head retention, decent visibility.

S- lots of florals with a hint of citrus.

T- floral hops but not too bitter on the front end, piney, sweet malts, with a slight bread aftertaste.

M- medium body, light carbonation, smooth creamy feel and thickness.

O- solid IPA on the lighter side.

On draft at The Upper Crest in D.C.

The beer is crystal clear and light yellow hued. Effervescence lasts the duration of the session. The head is a finger thick and leaves some decent legs on the glass. The aroma is pretty weak, with only faint traces of hops. The flavor is better, with some pine and hop flavors and a lingering bitterness. Overall, an ok offering.

had this on tap in Boston last week. thougth I'd finally type in my notes.

A - Nice, golden-yellow color to it with average carbonation some haze probably attributable to iced glasses. Ding to the waiter for not offering a choice. minimal light head.

S - Nice floral, hoppy smell with hints of citrus and barely there grapefruit.

T- Hint of bitterness that is evened out by a light malty sweetness with a touch of citrus

M - Nice light brew for dining out.

D - Easy to drink and refreshing.

Harpoon IPA
Bottle, poured into a pilsner glass.

A - Coppery gold with a little haze. A full finger of white head with medium retention and nice lacing.

S - Citrus, leaning heavily toward grapefruit, piney hops, and malt.

T - Straight-up American IPA, with plenty of citrusy, piney hops, as expected. Nice sweet malt undertones. Plenty of flavors, nothing unexpected, but definitely not a disappointment.

M - Medium body, with some lingering bitter, pine and malt aftertaste. Strong carbonation.

D - Very drinkable...or more like sippable. This is a solid beer, with no shortage of the good stuff you want in an American IPA. I'd buy it again, if I was in the mood for an IPA, and there wasn't another one available that I haven't tried or have and liked better.

A: Pours a clear golden/orange color. A one finger white head forms and leaves patchy lace behind.
S: Citrus and piney hops. A light sweetness in the nose to balance out the bitterness.
T: Similar to the nose. Citrus hops, but not overly bitter. Some light malty sweetness. Not very impressive, and bland.
M/D: A medium body, but thin a watery. Not a hard IPA to drink. The bitterness does not over power, and makes for a relatively easy to drink beer.

Nothing special, but a decent IPA. Just kind of uninspiring. Nothing to go out of your way for IMO.

Appearance - Light colorings of gold and amber. Almost sparkled. Very clear, crisp and appealing. Head was good size and off white; streaked down the glass.

Smell - Sweet and flowery. Smelled very enticing

Taste - Floral with hint of sweetness. Followed by a little bitterness to mellow it out. Carbonation hits a little bit strong at first, but comes together nicely once it settles.

Mouthfeel - Lots of tingles at first, then sweet, then flowery, then clean/refreshing, finishing off with a touch of bitter. Light and refreshing.

Drinkability - Definitely refreshing with layers of taste. I could handle one everyone once in a while when I'm relaxing on a hot day.

An extremely pleasant & drinkable EIPA. Poured out of the bottle, has a nice yellow, clear color with a nice foamy head. Lemon aroma. This starts soft, has a nice lemony flavor that dwells on the middle tongue then finishes soft and malty. Worth the price of admission but don't expect a super hoppy experience.

Light golden color, with a white head that shows average retention. Aroma is pleasant although faint, hoppy/fruity but not exactly complex.
It is rather light-bodied, with a similarly pleasant yet not very pronounced or complex taste; mostly hoppy and fruity, without a lot of additional flavors noticeable. Malts are barely, if at all noticeable.
Easy to drink, but not exactly remarkable. There are a lot more options out there on the style, but perhaps I should still try it in bottles as suggested by other reviewers.

12oz bottle with freshness info saying it expires sometime in october, i forget what day exactly. poured into my sierra nevada hop tulip glass.

A- this one pours out a pale amber colored body with a small white head on it. the head lasts but a second before becoming no more than a crown and leaves behind little to no lacing.

S- sweet caramel malts upfront, and a very mild floral hop finish. not quite what i was expecting.

T- sweet caramel malts first and a very weak hop finish. mostly floral with a bit of pine in there also.

M- light to medium bodied with a high level of carbonation.

D- this one seemed pretty weak compared to several other versions of this style. i was very happy to see brewery sitting on shelves in chicago, but after this im not very impressed. oh well, i hope the next one from harpoon is better.

A 12 oz bottle with a drink by date of 11/15/12. Bummer. Bought on 12/5/12. Guess this one is not fresh

A - A clear copper, with 1/2 a finger of head, and a little bit of lace left on the glass. Standard for an IPA, but not over the top. Looks filtered. I like them unfiltered

S - Citrus, fruit hop aromas. Not a hop I really recognize though?

T - Interesting. Citrus hops. Needs more balance, a little bitterness.

M - Light bodied, medium carbonation.

O - An average to below average IPA. Was hoping for more, since it is in about every store these days.

Deep amber color, not much of a head but good lacing regardless. Spicy hop aroma, hoppy orange flavor, nice but not very special. Tingly mouthfeel, finish is clean and a bit dry. Good and refreshing, more hoppiness would be nice though. Makes a good $6.99 6pk special at the corner deli.

Pours a hazy golden amber with a thin white head. Pleasant spicy, citrusy hop aroma but I was expecting more from an IPA. Taste is a bit of a letdown also, hops do not dominate as they should in an IPA. A decent, easy drinking beer, but there are better choices out there.

Pours a pale, copper color with a foamy white head. Floral hop aroma & taste...i guess I shouldn't be too surprised, considering the label is covered with pictures of flowers. I've heard this beer has gone downhill in the past few years, and that may be so. A bit one-dimensional, but it should do a good job of satisfying the appetite of most hopheads. All in all, it's a decent IPA, and definitely of "fallback" status, but nothing I'd go out of my way to purchase on a regular basis.

Very aesy going IPA, could have been a little more hoppy in caracter.

A blond to amber

S light hoptones and some fruityness in the aroma.

T Accessable with light hop taste. More a blond than a IPA in my opinion. Could do well as a beginner IPA.

O Nice but a little more hops would make it better.

fluffy head that stayed chunky and clear copper color

The nose was a bit of a let down with not much hop smells coming out.

Flavor followed nose with very little in terms of hop character. sure it had so a bit of a grapefruit rind bitterness that was not by any means in your face. it did have a nice balance though.

mouthfeel was adequate and over all I would say this is a decent IPA but I have so many more I would buy first.

Appearance is deep golden with a one finger white head that does not dissipate too quickly. Smell is minimal--faint citrusy hops. The taste is mainly grapefruity hops at first with a little yeast, and then there's a kind of medicinal aftertaste. Mouthfeel is acidic at first, but then oddly smooth. Not as heavy as other IPAs/APAs. This is a drinkable IPA, but it doesn't have quite the same bold smell/flavor as a lot of other IPAs.
