Harpoon Variety Pack, First of 6 different beers.
LOOK: Pours a light and quite hazy pale straw , with a white head that has better than average retention.
AROMA: more sour and musky than anything. Neither citrus or malty. The aroma is hard to place, maybe some
cereal, oatmeal aroma but not particularly inviting.
TASTE: Not good
Sure hope the remaining 5 different IPA's are not as disappointing

A: hazy; deep gold in color; 1 finger white head that receded to a thick collar; light lacing;

S: quite aromatic; mango, pineapple, and a hint of grapefruit;

T: less interesting than the aroma; pineapple with caramel, grapefruit, and mango in the background; the mango comes out a bit more toward the end; very mild bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: good, but there are better options;

a) Totally hazed, apricot body, raises 1 finger head that falls fast and laces little.
s) Interesting piney grassy aromas unusual and plentiful.
t) Zythos hops *(combo of Simcoe, Citra, Palisade and Amarillo) feature grassy, hempy, piney, citric fruit notes a plenty.
Slightly nutty,
f) Did not love the feel, flattish, and slightly soapy.
o) Sessionable, lovely unfiltered pale ale.

Bottle bought locally, near the brewery. Dated 12/3/2018. Drank on 1/8/2019. This appears to be a new brew by Harpoon, introduced late 2018. Looks like Harpoon is making efforts to keep up with craft brew industry.
Served in a tapered, straight, stemmed ale goblet. Served chilled, but better flavor when it lost some of its chill. The white head disappeared quickly, lacing the inside of glass. It is hazy and dark yellow. Hazy means unfiltered. Good trend now, because healthy vitamins and minerals are retained.
The Zythos hops are interesting. (a hybrid combo of Simcoe, Citra, Palisade and Amarillo) and they give a nice piney, citrus fruit hop characteristics. It has a very light aroma, slight piny, slightly nutty, So the flavor is not hop forward. It has a very slightly soap feel to it, but otherwise it is great value for money.

From the 12 fl. oz. can that was canned on 12/03/18. Sampled on December 22, 2018.

The pour is a cloudy looking pale yellow with a modest white head that fades. Somewhat opaque.

The aroma emits a lot of tropical fruit and citrus notes beyond much else. Some sourdough bread.

The mouthfeel is about medium but not more than that. It is smooth.

The taste expresses itself with a citrus and fruity zestiness mostly with a more muted sweet biscuit and bread malt character. Easy drinking and generally refreshing.
