This beer was poured out of a 12 oz bottle into a glass. It has the color and opaqueness of a citrus juice, albe it with a white head. I didn't find a whole lot in the aroma department but the flavor is pleasant and inoffensive. It shares juicy citrus notes to its cousin the New England IPA, and there is a note of hop flavoring after the swallow.

for all the copycat beers in the style, and all the amateur ones trying to capitalize on this style craze, its really nice to find one you just want to drink, not a novelty, a rarity, trade bait, just a beer for drinking, which is what i found in this very modern offering from harpoon. its nice and low alcohol, not overdone, not hazy for the sake of it, and restrained in the right ways to make it real drinkable, and the hop profile screams boat beer to me. subtle orange and pineapple, like a beermosa, without any bitterness or greenness to it, juicy but soft, seems possibly citra driven, has a very vermont level of refinement and balance, and the grain is not inconsequential. lemongrass, cantaloupe, and even a strawberry note at the end, fresh as can be. its carbonated well, pillowy and expansive in feel, and dry at the end, refreshing even, and just different and dialed in enough to stand out from the crowd of wannabes, which is enormous at the moment. i can almst always count on harpoon to deliver a quality beer, especially in hoppy styles, but this one really is a treat, perfect for high summer, and one i would recommend if you too are sick of filtering through all the hyped ones, lousy ones, and amateur ones to find a good one. stoked on this, its better than its ratings.

OMFG! I just recently put this bottle in my reefer to cool, planning it as a follow-up to two (2) other Harpoon beers, albeit in CANs. I had no idea that this one is also in CANS! I'm gonna have to see if I CAN find one before the Summer's end. 8=O

From the Bottle: "Est. 1986"; "Intense aromas of citrus, berry, and tropical fruit in a hazy Summer pale ale."; "We don't need any excuses to celebrate One Hazy Summer. Open, and enjoy!"; "Est. 1986"; "Summer"; "Juicy*Vibrant*Soft New England Pale Ale"; "38 IBUs"; "Dear ______, I can't make it to ________. I'm ________ to miss it, but I have a _________ that I need to ________ and just can't get away. I hope to make it up to you _________ - beers are on me. Sincerely, _________ "; "It's One Hazy Summer. Fill in the blanks, open, and enjoy."; "Employee Owned".

Seeing "Hazy" on the bottle in combination with its designation as "New England" inspired me to do some serious in-bottle agitation to get any lees off of the punt & back into suspension before Pop!ping the cap. I then allowed it some calming time before proceeding since I am not into beer fountains. Once accomplished, an aggro C-Line pour netted me just over two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head that quickly dissipated in the face of today's heat & humidity. 8=( Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Poor for the style (APA), since clarity is usually a trademark. Nose was very tropical fruity, but when held up to the standard-bearer of SNPA, it really did not measure up. It was marginally within spec for the style, but it was not my cuppa. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste had a muted tropical fruitiness & although I shake my head in disbelief that I am saying it, I would have preferred that they had gone with a full-on NEIPA instead of this reduced nonsense. It would have really been disappointing if I had truly been expecting an APA. This did not really measure up, neither in terms of style nor my personal taste. Finish was semi-dry, but it just was not really an APA. YMMV.

This is a great pale ale, misidentified as an IPA by other reviewers.
It is not a New England Pale either, it is a West Coast pale. Totally misidentified. A New England Pale is more like an amber.
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into an English half pint.

L: Hazed golden ale with a small white head. The lacing was all down the glass. Perfect % alcohol. Not too strong like IPAs tend to be. Hazy means unfiltered. Way better for you. The remaining yeast addds flavor and has every vitamin B there is.
S: Great hop profile. Fresh beer features.
T.F: Great aroma. Smooth and mild in taste. .Well balanced and easy to drink
O: Very nice pale ale. Fantastic value for money. Makes a great change from the resinous in your face IPA's.
Good any time of year. They could do this one all year round as a decent Pale Ale. It is a West Coast pale ale. Misidentified by Harppon on their label. I think this is a big branding error on their part and why you will see it on sale in late August/Early September.
Glad it is not the fave of Americans. The price comes down and more for me as the summer draws to a close. But you could drink this all year round.

Drinking from a 12oz. bottle out of a pint beer glass.
Tan-orange color, medium opaque, thought not really cloudy.
Thin filmy head.
Tangy smell.
Taste has a nice tang, with fruity overtones. Not at all bitter - so really a pale ale and not an IPA.
Refreshing for a hot summer afternoon, but no real depth or interest.

Picked up a six at Total Wine. Great summer beer. Pour is cloudy golden with a big pillowy head and ample lacing. Taste is fruity with some interesting sour hops notes and a crisp finish. i will be buying more of these.

Harpoon Brewery "One Hazy Summer"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, packaged on 02/25/19 and sampled on 07/26/19
$2.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a cloudy golden body beneath a two-finger thick head of just slightly off-white foam that's already dropped a bit. There is some nice lacing where it's dropped though. The aroma is mainly lemon but there's also some orange and melon. It's not a very bright aroma but this bottle is 5 months old. On to the flavor... well there's nothing new here. The malt is basic, as it should be to let the hops shine, and just lightly sweet. There also seems to be a little tartness to it. The hops offer the same flavors with a little bit of mango added in, and some light resin and pine. The bitterness is median and it's got a nice balance to it - refreshing and drinkable on a hot day. It finishes dry with some bitterness and tropical fruit lingering. In the mouth it's medium-light in body and gently crisp with a delicate bristle on the tongue. Looking back, the head did drop rather quickly in terms of size but it's held a solid surface covering throughout. The lacing wasn't quite as good, but it's still above average. In the end it's a decent beer but I wouldn't run off in search of it.

Pours a lemon yellow with a quickly disintegrating head. No significant lacing going on. Aromawise, I get primarily hops and malt, the citrus aspects are pretty muted.

Taste is slightly tart, bright, with a decent hoppiness and a modest malt backbone. There are some citrusy notes going on back they're in the background and are slightly muted as well. To me that's an asset as I'm not a big fan of really juicy beers. Overall, it's a pretty easy drinker, refreshing and tasty.

Hazy golden yellow color. Has a distinct smell about it that I’ve picked up on various big brewers. May sound weird but if you know then you know....somewhat tropical flavors along with mild bitterness. Over all a crushable beer. I really liked it

On my New England kick. Welcome to Vermont. This one is pretty straight forward. Pours a hazy yellow colour with medium head that maintains a thin foam. Tropical aroma and taste (mostly pineapple and mango I sense). Not too bitter. Light and nice tasting.
