12oz can poured into a snifter

A- pours deep brown in color with a one-finger light khaki head that reduces to a film on top

S- coffee-forward aroma, freshly ground beans. Undertones of chocolate, black licorice & charred malt

T- flavor follows the aroma; coffee forward up front, with undertones of anise, charred malt, chocolate and some light herbal hops. The finish gives more charred malt with coffee on the linger

M- medium-light body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into the finish

From a 12 oz. can with a 2021 date but the month was smudged. Sampled on Oct 10,2021.

A deep dark brown to near black pour underneath a modest, lingering tan head. Looks like a Porter.

Aroma of roasted malts, coffee beans, and earthy hops. Coffee is not in my face but it is notable.

Light mouthfeel.

The taste is at first sweet and ashy and then the coffee characters come in to take things over. Earthy finish. It is not bad.

Pours a very dark black color with no light getting through. Not even a reddish hue when held up to the window. Nice lingering mocha colored head. Smell is very muted, picking up some mild char. Taste is toasty, chocolate ,coffee, hops are present but not upfront.Feels like a well rounded porter. I am sure that Harpoon has brewed a porter but the DD collaboration adds a different taste albeit arabica coffee.

This is a pleasant surprise! It seems to be part of a fall-themed Harpoon/Dunkin collab. The variety twelve pack it comes in looks very inviting, like a box of donuts.

L: Pure black, like black coffee. A brisk pour into a pilsner glass yields a puffy cloud of almost Guinness-like foam, but as it recedes it becomes darker and murkier. Luscious.

S: Fresh-ground arabica coffee beans, chocolate ice cream, caramel malt. It's a wake-up call for your senses, for sure.

T: Black coffee bitterness blends with the sweet malts perfectly, although the hops seem completely muted. This one isn't for IPA lovers.

F: Lovely and supple at first, it becomes a bit cloying after a while. Still better than a lot of coffee beers I've tried that were simply too sweet. This might go too far in the other direction for some. YMMV.

Overall, a solid offering from Harpoon and a nice eye-opener to start the fall season. Oktoberfest is right around the corner. Right now is a good time to celebrate with a Dunkin' Midnight American Porter!
