UFO PumpkinUFO Pumpkin
Notes: Imagine a pumpkin vine wound its way in a field of barley, and a brewer harvested it all to make a beer. Add Northwestern hops and a blend of spices, and you've got UFO Pumpkin. The malt combination provides a smooth body and slightly sweet flavor, which balances perfectly with the earthy notes derived from the pure pumpkin. And like all of our UFO beers, UFO Pumpkin is unfiltered so all the wonderful flavors are right there in your glass. Cheers!

12 ounce can.
Pours a hazy golden pale amber with finger of just off white head.
Nose malty, slightly yeasty with pumpkin pie spice - clove, ginger. Slightly vegetal with floral note.
Sweet malt - pumpkin pie spice though a bit muted, a touch of nuttiness and caramel, a bit of floral earthiness.
Light mouthfeel - smooth, mild sweetness - easy drinking if not horribly remarkable.

(12 oz can, pkg 08/26/19; purchased single off shelf... poured into Belhaven pub pint)

L: hazy, orange-amber liquid, perhaps a bit of sediment sneaking in, culprit in nucleation and 3-finger tall head, loosely-built, which crumbles rather quick, leaving a chunky collar, random boogers of lace

S: pumpkin pie spices - cinnamon, subtle nutmeg, ginger(?), with the weizen phenols accenting the spice a little... after the head falls, a hint of canned pumpkin puree... overall moderate intensity; floral, mellow spicy, light note of caramelization

T: malt sugars open up on the palate; again, rather floral and clove-y as well, with little play from cinnamon et al; aftertaste has a mellow essence of caramelized banana, delicate nutty malt to the back and sides... little more than halfway through, and it really just a nutty-yeasty hefeweizen with some pumpkin spice carefully woven in

F: smooth, slightly rounded body, with a nicely undercut bottom, little residual viscosity, marginal sediment drag... mild spice and alcohol at the back of the palate provides a mild cooling sensation

O: I'd thought Punkless Dunkel was theft of my idea for a pumpkin wheat beer, but this UFO swill has nearly the same flavor as my homebrew batches, with a notch or two more caramelized character, but the spices/esters/phenols are a close match... interesting to see the potential in my recipe, but I probably ought to tweak it hard (1585)

I like the color: multifaceted amber with an orange tint and translucent clarity. Not much for head, with a spicy nose, with nutmeg, allspice, and the like.

Flavor is balanced and compartmental, with space for spices, hops, and caramel malt. Slightly watery in the aftertaste. Not without its charms, but a little paint by numbers for the style.

Poured from a 12 oz can. Very large amount of head that took a while to fade. Slightly hazy orange color, with a pumpkin-pie spice smell. Tastes mostly of pumpkin, only a hint of spice at the end. Not too much change as it warmed. A decent pumpkin ale, but nothing particularly special.

From notes 12/16/11: Pours a hazy copper amber producing 1 inch of off-white, short-lived head that leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is vegetal pumpkin, pumpkin pie spices, caramel and a hint of Graham Cracker (something here like stale Dr. Pepper). Taste is dough, vegetal pumpkin, heavy to cinnamon/ginger and caramel. Starts bitter with a faint sweet undertone. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high end moderate carbonation, heavy peppery spice in the finish, not smooth with a carbonation/spice bite.

12 Oz Can poured into glass
Look - cloudy orange yellow appearance. Decent foam head and some lacing.
Smell - basically the aroma when pumpkin pie is cooking in the oven. Got that strong nutmeg and cloves kick.
Taste - Follows the nose, about what i expected. Fairly spiced pumpkin flavor but its got that cloudy wheat flavor as well. It's medium carbonation and medium body. Bready finish. Fresh flavor with a touch of hops which separates it from some of the other pumpkin ales I have had.

Overall, i like it, it's not maybe the best ever, this isn't my favorite style, but its good and it tastes like pumpkin beer with the pumpkin pie flavors. I will give it an A-

Pours out a cloudy pale amber color. The head is off-white with lots of big bubbles. Retention is decent and leaves a bit of lacing.

Sweet pumpkin with vanillar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, brown sugar, and bread. Its extremely aromatic. This one smells very natural. Not some much like pumpkin pie but all the flavors meld well together.

Tons of pumpkin in the taste. It follows suite with the nose although not as sweet. Everything is there. Not watered down just less intense. Everything is still well represented.

Medium bodied. Its smooth, silky and with mild carbonation. Super drinkable.

Best pumpkin beer on the market. So glad they brought it back. Light, crisp, and tastes like actual pumpkin. So good it’s almost too good. Alcohol content isn’t ridiculously high like other pumpkin beers, which means you can enjoy several, and still function the next day!

From the neck in yellow print: "ENJOY BY 212 01/15/19 12;27"

Appearance: The body of the beer is an orange color with a cloudy appearance. The back of the beer states, "It pours cloudy because it's unfiltered." The head is short and white, having only a thin layer over the surface. No head retention and very minimal lacing.

Aroma: There is a faint pumpkin pie spice aroma to the beer. Nutmeg pops out the most from the combination of aromas.

Taste: It has a nice pumpkin pie spice flavor which tastes mostly of cinnamon. The rest of the flavors tend to blend together.

Mouthfeel: The beer has a very nice mouthfeel which is smooth and lightly textured with a light presence on the palate.

Overall: It has pretty good flavors and it has a nice texture but at times I found myself smacking my tongue and lips to draw out more flavor. Drinking a seasonal beer should be rewarding and something special. This beer isn't bad but it feels a bit like when you get a Tootsie Roll in your candy bag on Halloween. You will probably still consume it but it doesn't taste as good as that candy bar. This is the same thing; It's just good enough to get by.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Clear golden orange pour with 2 fingers of fluffy white head. Nice lacing.

S: Pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices.

T/F: Toastead malts and pumpkin. Mild on the spice which isn't a bad thing. Nutmeg and clove, but not overpowering. Vegetable/gourd flavor and light brown sugar. Hopping for bitterness/balance. Somewhat fizzy... light bodied.

O: A drinkable pumpkin beer. Middle of the road but not offensive... borders on pumpkin soda, and the best aspect is the lack of over the top spice.

12 oz. bottle

Pours foggy hazy amber orange with a quickly dissipating white foam head. Smells like autumn spices, pumpkin, bready grain, graham crackery malts, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, with earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like pumpkin, bready grain, graham crackery malt, autumn spices, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, with earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy with moderate carbonation. 12 oz. in a tulip.

Appearance: Hazy, rusty orange with a big white head of froth.

Aroma: Pumpkin, spice. Smells somewhat like a pumpkin candle.

Taste: Ehhhh meh. It's a mishmash of spices along with a somewhat cloying, jammy pumpkin. Some weird wheat type flavor, too. Honey. Malty sweetness. I'm not a big fan.

Mouthfeel: Has some body, but basically light.

Overall: Can't say I dug this. I'm not the biggest pumpkin beer fan, and this one is particularly "busy" tasting, and not in a good way. Kind of tastes like a beer version of a hastily made pumpkin pie that wasn't in the oven long enough.

Unfiltered.

Hazy, thick golden orange color with a full, frothu, dense white cap keeps it real.

A very nice aromatic blend of pumpkin spice, sweet maple malt, spicy-herbal hop blend. Subtle other fruity tones pop out, slightly tropical and very fresh. Spicy pumpkin pie.

A very pleasant, sweet honey malt rides in first, pumkin pure'e, brown sugar, cinnemon, cloves with an herbal hop zest makes for a pretty flavor spectrum. I must admit, Pumpkin beers are not really my thing, however I can enjoy a good version evety now and again. This version is actually pretty interesting.

The feel is pretty smooth, but also with a rather cloying, slick malty effect, long and sweet. I would certainly appreciate a mouthfeel more crisp from this style. Pumpkin flavoring can sometimes make it feel to malty/sugar sweet and slick. Perhaps a slightly highet hop profile would make it a bit more refreshing.

Maybe a bit too sweet and slick but certainly not a bad Pumpkin.

UFO Pumpkin has a thick, bone-colored head, an opaque, orange appearance, with some lacing left behind. The aroma is of bold pumpkin pie spices, and the flavor is of white pepper, pumpkin pie spices, gourd, and low-level beer flavor. Mouthfeel is heavy, and UFO Pumpkin finishes on the dry side.

Appearance - Pours somewhat cloudy burnt orange color, so so white head that completely disappears, no lacing.

Smell - Very sweet pumpkin smell, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, brown sugar. Smells alot like pumpkin pie.

Taste - Much like the smell, the taste is not as strong as the smell which is a shame. Pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla.

Feel - Medium body there seems to be a little too much carbonation.

Overall - I like this beer I wish the taste had as much flavor as the smell alludes too. Still a strong beer I enjoyed.

Look: Pours a cloudy, orange hue with a half finger, off white head.

Smell:I'm getting Cinnamon, allspice, clove, ginger, mild spearmint and very faint notes of caramel.

Taste: Not bad, but not terribly impressive. A little watery. Mild malty flavors of custard and honey upfront. Light notes of cinnamon, clove and graham crackers in the background. A dry, soapy potpourri taste on the finish.

Feel: Light body with low carbonation. It's unfiltered so the feel has a little extra body and "oompfh" to it, but it's still on the thin side.

Overall Comments: A little bland, but not bad. I can't tell if this is an old beer or not unfortunately since there's no bottled date which I'm a little salty about... just a "best before" date... which sucks.

Also there's no % ABV listed on the bottle, what the hell is up with that Harpoon? That's very pertinent information we as consumers need to know. DWI's are no joke.

Enjoy by 1/15/17. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy burnt golden with a fluffy off-white head that slowly falls leaving great retention and solid lacing. The aromas have a ton of ginger. There's some cinnamon and nutmeg in the mix. I'm also picking up some citrus notes, which I didn't expect. There's some lemon and pine in the mix. The flavors have a huge blast of cinnamon. The ginger and nutmeg follow. Some fresh grass with a subtle bitterness. There's a subtle sweetness, but it's balanced. Alcohol goes completely unnoticed. Mouthfeel is light with moderate carbonation. It's fluffy and very smooth. Very easy to drink.

This is a nice pumpkin ale. It's traditional and unique at the same time. I might be the minority, but I'm picking up some citrus, which makes this one different. Not bad at all.

My first pumpkin brew. Nice looking beer. Aroma like pumpkin pie with all the requisite spices, and taste follows the nose. Mouthful is nice and soft, in keeping with an unfiltered beer. The mild, but just noticeable enough hop presence saves this beer from being cloying in its sweetness and balances things out. Nevertheless, I could only drink this once in a while, not because it's bad, just due to personal tastes/mood..The surprisingly high (though not really tasteable) alcohol content does add to the enjoyment, although I know this quality should not impact a review. Bottom line, if you're in the mood for this type of beer, it's good. I had my doubts, but liked this beer more than I was expecting to. Cheers.

Feel- Smooth, light body; medium/high carbonation, drink ability if fairly high
