Imagine a pumpkin vine wound its way in a field of barley, and a brewer harvested it all to make a beer. Add Northwestern hops and a blend of spices, and you've got UFO Pumpkin. The malt combination provides a smooth body and slightly sweet flavor, which balances perfectly with the earthy notes derived from the pure pumpkin. And like all of our UFO beers, UFO Pumpkin is unfiltered so all the wonderful flavors are right there in your glass. Cheers!

Now I'm a big fan of pumpkin beers, as long as they're actually pumpkin, and not just pie spices.
This one really gets that right in a big way. You can taste the pumpkin, but the spices are fairly minimal, but just enough. The solid malt backbone is amply accented, but not dominated by the spices.
Overall this 8s my fav of this year's batches so far

L: A thick pale orange, definitely unfiltered; a touch of off-white head leaves moderate lacing
S: More spicing than pumpkin, with a hint of floral hops, more nutmeg than anything, while a bit of caramel malts sit underneath; phenolic alcohol notes linger
T: I'm wanting a bit more, but there is a touch of pumpkin flesh with the spices; alcohol warms and kind of sits underneath, while caramel malts add a little sweetness to whatever else is sweetening it, which is a little more than necessary to counter a slightly vegetal floral hops note
F: A light medium body has moderate crispness, and the sweetness is countered well by hops and the drying alcohol and spices
O: You could do better and you could do worse than this one, certainly worth a try

It's missing vanilla. Not tons of smell, head is soda-like/mediocre, taste is missing vanilla, and could be A LITTLE thicker, richer, and sweeter. The other pumpkin ale I recently reviewed was better. This nowhere near bad, but not great.

Look – Rusty orange in color with a cloudy body and two fingers of white head
Aroma – Good amount of pumpkin on the nose. A lot of fruity are here too.
Taste – The spices shine more here than actual pumpkin with nutmeg for days. While subtle, the pumpkin is still recognizable. The base hefeweizen is lending more of those banana and bubblegum flavors. They take over the pumpkin flavors, but the combo is unique.
Mouthfeel – Light with a clean finish. Some pretty good lingering cinnamon.
Overall – A creative mashup of styles that each lend a range of flavors. The pumpkin and spices might keep this from being a sessionable hefeweizen, but I found myself really enjoying this combination.

12 oz bottle poured into a willi becher. Pours a hazy golden orange with a medium creamy head. Aroma and flavor are sweet pumpkin with an extra shot of sweet cream. Too sweet, in other words. Not terrible but not something I'd purchase again.

12 ounce can.
Pours a hazy golden pale amber with finger of just off white head.
Nose malty, slightly yeasty with pumpkin pie spice - clove, ginger. Slightly vegetal with floral note.
Sweet malt - pumpkin pie spice though a bit muted, a touch of nuttiness and caramel, a bit of floral earthiness.
Light mouthfeel - smooth, mild sweetness - easy drinking if not horribly remarkable.

(12 oz can, pkg 08/26/19; purchased single off shelf... poured into Belhaven pub pint)
L: hazy, orange-amber liquid, perhaps a bit of sediment sneaking in, culprit in nucleation and 3-finger tall head, loosely-built, which crumbles rather quick, leaving a chunky collar, random boogers of lace
S: pumpkin pie spices - cinnamon, subtle nutmeg, ginger(?), with the weizen phenols accenting the spice a little... after the head falls, a hint of canned pumpkin puree... overall moderate intensity; floral, mellow spicy, light note of caramelization
T: malt sugars open up on the palate; again, rather floral and clove-y as well, with little play from cinnamon et al; aftertaste has a mellow essence of caramelized banana, delicate nutty malt to the back and sides... little more than halfway through, and it really just a nutty-yeasty hefeweizen with some pumpkin spice carefully woven in
F: smooth, slightly rounded body, with a nicely undercut bottom, little residual viscosity, marginal sediment drag... mild spice and alcohol at the back of the palate provides a mild cooling sensation
O: I'd thought Punkless Dunkel was theft of my idea for a pumpkin wheat beer, but this UFO swill has nearly the same flavor as my homebrew batches, with a notch or two more caramelized character, but the spices/esters/phenols are a close match... interesting to see the potential in my recipe, but I probably ought to tweak it hard (1585)
