Either I found a distributor shelf dusty or they brewed it again. They could have called it a pale ale
Nose has a hint of something I don't care for, not bad, just not liked and just a hint that I cant quite place.

While I am not a fan of most saison's other than those from Belgium I will admit that this is one fantastic ale. Beer pours a rich cloudy yellowish-amber with a thick white head that dies down to a nice lacing foam. Smells of lemon grass, lemon and orange citrus, and a slight spice mingling with sweet malts. Taste is excellent---light peppery spice on the back, light sweet Belgian malt on the front and sides, almost like a light peach taste with a medium dry finish and light herbal aftertaste of pepper spices and coriander. I am astounded. It is very nice and would pair great with many foods, light alcohol warmth----just about perfect.

"In the spirit of collaboration, Jamie stayed true to the farmhouse tradition of brewing without spices while Ryan balanced East Kent Goldings hops with coriander and white peppercorn. Ethan's American hops and a Trappist yeast strain complemented Rich's citrusy hop profile, and the combined result is Saison Various: a refreshing blend of saisons, brewing sensibilities, and unique ingredients.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a pint glass. Served above 55º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a pale golden white head of a sudsy, crisp consistency over a moderately hazy golden yellow body. Carbonation is plentiful and vivacious and the retention is average. Lacing is light and spotty. 3.5

(Smell) Strong aromas of cracker and biscuity caramel malts form a malt base reminiscent of a European pilsner. The yeast profile is ever so slightly saison-like in presentation, slightly spicy and effervescent with a touch of pepper and spice to compliment, moderately acidic, somewhat vinous. The hop aroma is quite significant in potency with a strong grassy bitterness along with slight floral and fruit undertones. Very dry aroma but also very potent. 3.5

(Taste) Light cracker and pilsner malt with a mellow undertone of caramel sweetness. The hop profile is quite potent with big grassy flavor, cider fruits and a touch of pepper. The inclusion of white peppercorn and coriander have the most profound impact on the flavor of this beer, very perky, peppery, spicy and pungent. The saison yeast profile comes out better in the flavor but the subtleties it generates fade behind the assertiveness of the spice. Like a great many of Harpoon's 100 Barrel Series, Saison Various takes a great many twists on a traditional style with generally favorable results. If you were looking for a more spritely flavored Saison, this would be an ideal candidate. The beer finishes bitter, dry and quite liberally spiced. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, chalky, dry. Carbonation generates a moderate crispness for a spritely, perky mouthfeel. Body is medium/heavy for the style and medium+ overall. Balance is spicy pepper and dryness over bitterness over a subtle sweetness, perhaps the beer may benefit more from a slight enhancement to the body. Alcohol presence is mild and any off flavors are fairly well concealed amidst the texture and bold flavor of this beer. 3.5

(Overall) This is one assertive, sharp and dry saison to behold, and myself being one to never conform to tradition, I quite enjoy it. Any harshness perceived will likely either fall under the bitterness of the grassy hop profile or the assertiveness and spritely flavor of the coriander and white peppercorn spice, all of which combined makes for a rougher-than-expected drinking saison. Very flavorful but a fairly slow sipper. One of the more favorable 100 Barrel Series releases as of late. 3.5
