Pours out of the growler a very dark brown color with a tall tan head that left some clumps of lace. Light chocolate and roasted malts make up most of the aroma. Some light sweet caramel as it warmed. The flavor is similar with a very light roastiness of a sweet caramel and cocoa note. While it was a pleasant taste it could really use some beefing up, it tasted more like a ok brown ale. Mouthfeel was a bit thin too but smooth and creamy. East drinking and still enjoyable despite the flaws.

Tasted on-nitro-tap 8/30/05 at Thoroughbred's brewpub (served far too cold).

Hazy brownish-black with some ruby red highlights and a decent light brown head. Light roasty aroma with a slight cocoa note. Light roasty malt flavor with a touch of cocoa. Medium bodied with a light alcohol finish.

Certainly an English Oatmeal Stout but not really robust enough for my tastes... prefer the American versions with more chutzpah when given a choice.
