No one is gonna read this but I gotta say something. I see comments about dated beers and dated beers is a big problem at every store in this state (look harder) the staff always does their best to be on top of this but people like the Coors rep like to do things like take an Alaskan mix pack that expired in summer( it's a specific example cuz this just happened) and make us put it back on the shelf so it doesn't affect his bonus cuz dated product comes out of their bonus apparently. Honestly idc about that or know 100% if thats how it's actually working but im mostly like fuck off stop making us putting bad beer back on the shelf. This happened with some dated Voodoo Ranger packs as well and the New Belgium rep was not pleased to see it.

Stuff stays on the shelf here longer than other places. Friendly and laid back staff, decent selection, including a few harder to find locals, and stuff tends to stay on the shelf here longer than other places around town.

The wife went there, while on business. She has a general idea what I like, but seemed out help here. She said they were extremely helpful, giving her ideas, pointing her in the right direction. When is saw what she brought back, they were spot on. Lots of great Colorado stuff we can't get down here in Charleston. Definitely worth a stop.

A- was like a warehouse. Had rows of wine, scotch and all types of alcohol then along the back wall was tons of collers full of 6 packs singles and bombers of beer. Both Craft and domestic beer

Q- quality looked good. FFound 1 bottle past a "drink by date" buteveything else was good

S- No one tried to help me.. That wasn't good or bad as i didn't need help

Sel- Had a nice big selection of bombers and 6 packs. There were alot of holes missing on the shelves. So i don't know if i came in on the day before they get there shipment in or what. But it looks like they move product pretty regularly.

F-didn't have any

V- Decent prices. Maybe alittle bit on the pricey but not by much

Overall i found almost everything i was looking for at this store.. I was very pleased with the selection and choices. Would go back

I usually stop here when I am in denver as they usually have decent selection and good prices. As the years have gone on, I have noticed a drop in selection, however. It seems they have decreased the amount of old vintages that once made the store, the go to place. I suppose people ended up just buying them out. I have never had a problem with service, but every time I have gone the same beer guy has been right there to help me out. However I have never been given access to the mythical "back cellar". No Credit for beers I can not buy.

While I lived in the area, this was my goto place for beer.

The atmosphere is well, it's built like a warehouse and looks like it on the inside.

The quality of stuff they have is pretty fantastic. Everything from wine, to beer, bourbon, scotch, and even cigars. They have most anything anyone could want.

They age some beers in the basement and will willingly grab anything out of the basement if you ask. You need to know who to talk to as each person is in charge of a different section of the store.

This place has more micros than any other store on the south side of Denver. They have several coolers stocked full of domestic and imported singles that I can not get any where else but here. They have a terrific selection of sixers as well. The best selection in the south Denver area for beer, wine, and many other liquors.

Well I looked online and based on that got excited and made a list of what I was going to get. When I got there they didn't have half of the list so I got a few things and headed out. They weren't overpriced and had some decent sales. Avery 6 packs for 7.99. And great divide ipa packs for 8.99. The guy I asked if they had anything in the back seemed pretty clueless and just kept telling me they must be out of stock right now. When I tried to ring up I had to wait and then take a guy to the shelf who accused me of getting stuff out of a 6 pack when I already said I hadn't. Then I had to take him over and show him where they had the singles and the one I selected. I won't be going back, I'm sure I can find just the same selection at the same price if not better and much better service someplace else

This is an enormous store. I would have spent a lot of money here if it hadn't been the 5th or 6th store I visited. The prices are reasonable to slightly higher and the service was not existent. Lots of beer coolers... unsure if there was much for singles but just about everything you could want was here. Didn't know about stock in the back... that would have been nice to know as there was some high end stuff, but not what I expected for a store this size. Comparable to the other big store I visited in Thornton, but maybe slightly better. Another must stop in Denver for the beer shopper.

I went down to Davidson's from Denver the other night to check out the mega-super-ultra-warehouse and it was pretty good.

Q: They have a lot of good brews here, a lot, but for the size of the store, that's not really a surprise. Lots and lots and lots of cooler doors filled with every import and domestic craft that has Colorado distribution ... every one. Saw a number of J.W. Lees vintagas out on the floor, as well as half a case of Older Viscosity 2010, 2 varients from the Widmer Bros single serve series (BRRBON and Prickly Pear), and a whole bunch more. What's lacking here for the size of the store is actual rarity. Outside of the Older Viscosity and the Widmer Bros reserve I've seen everything that is "rare" still sitting on shelves at Argonaut or Colorado Liquor Mart, which are both smaller stores with smaller beer selections. None of the Avery barrel aged series beers, nothing out of Deschutes outside of Mirror Mirror 2009, no XXX Warlock or similar rarity Bristol releases, no BA Great Divide, etc. Just nothing that I couldn't find down the street in Denver in a large format.

S: Non-existant. We dropped nearly $200 at this store and no-one so much as asked us if we needed help finding anything. This gets me to the point on quality/selection. I've heard there is a great cellar in this place with lots of the stuff I was actually looking for. Unfortunately, nobody so much as batted an eye at us while we were pulling multiples of some of the most expensive bottles in the store.

S: As I stated in the quality section, Davidson's gets points for being exhaustive. Their 6-pack and small format selection is particularly striking, and I'm convinced that they pretty literally have everything that gets distributed to Colorado, period. But again, for a store this size, with a warehouse facility like they have, I expect true greatness. They have the space and operational ability to sit on some truly amazing bottles that smaller stores couldn't hold, and it's those bottles that I want. Admittedly they might have these bottles in a basement somewhere, but unfortunately I didn't see them, wasn't offered them, and no salesperson invited us to look for them. I have had opposite experiences at many other bottle shops. Beer guy sees you pulling ridiculous bombers that no one touches, asks you what you like, and then all of a sudden you're being shown the walk-in/cellar/etc where the good stuff is. No such luck at Davidson's.

This is a great store! Huge selection, very clean, a must stop every time I go to Colorado. They have lots of hard to find and vintage beers which I like. We had a list when we went in, we gave a few items at a time to the employee who was helping us and then he would disappear into the cooler and then return with the beer and to get the next few items from the list. Our purchase was large, over $500, so they opened two registers to ring everything up without inconveniencing their other customers. As we walked out they thanked us for visiting the great state of Colorado and asked us to come back soon.

This place has a great selection, but the guys who work there are notorious for hiding specialty beers in the back and don't allow the public access. You can ask and they will get you what you want by request if the item is in stock, but you will wait about 45 mins. to find someone to help you. THe last time I was in there I wondered the beer aisle for 30 min. not finiding what I was looking for. Walked up to the registers to see if the cashier could check the stock, the had the Avery Black tot in stock and it took another 10 min for a beer guy to show up after being called by the PA, and another 10 min will waited for him to find it in the back. I don't know who these guys think they are, but there is something called customer service!

*EDIT*

9/13/10:

So Davidsons gained a few extra points today by an event they held.

In light of Denver Beer Week they decided to bring up a bunch of cases of beer they had been aging and it was AWESOME!

Here is what I picked up:

'06 Bristol XXX Warlock
'07 DFH Fort
'07 Avery The Beast Grand Cru
'07 Avery Mephistopheles' Stout
'07 DFH Olde School
'08 Avery Samael's Ale
'08 Deschutes Black Butte XX
'09 Avery Black Tot
'09 DFH/Sierra Nevada Life and Limb
'10 Avery Depuceleuse

Shane is an employee there that actually knew what he was talking about. He and another that was helping him bring up the beer from the cellar were both great and knowledgeable. Great job guys! Keep it up!

^EDIT^

8/11/09:

I don't know what is going on with this place but it seems to be getting worse and worse.

It's not really their selection that is hurting its mostly their service, although that seems to be getting smaller. I have never met an employee at Davidson's that knows anything about beer. In fact, 2 weeks ago I asked 3 different employees if they knew when they would be selling GABF tickets. They didn't even know what the GABF was! On top of that their prices are a bit too high, expect to pay $1-$3 more then just about any other place.

I highly suggest driving 5min down the road to Lukas Liquor. They have a great selection (stuff I didn't even see at Davidson's), lower prices and a beer department full of employees that could talk your ear off about beer! They are awesome.

As the previous poster stated, this store is located right down the road from Lukas Liquors. So if you're in the area, it would definitely be beneficial to check out both of these stores.

The beer is located on the back wall. Right before the beer coolers begin, they added a book shelf for some of their rarer beers (i.e. Angels Share, XXX Warlock, Odell's Woodcut #2, etc.) The beer colors extend forever. The micro section starts if with a very nice selection of Colorado beers. This is followed by micros brews from various other breweries, such as Lost Abbey, Russian River, Deschutes, etc. The last section was the import section. Very impressive with a few rarities.

The only thing I did not like was that the beer was sometimes the beer was scattered. I like that they started to address the issue by moving the book shelf next to the beer coolers instead at the other end of the store. I did notice some Boulevards located at the opposite entrance to the store.

Service for the most part was good. I gave it a 4 because if you needed help, you had to find some. Where as other stores would have employees come right up to you and ask if you needed help.

As far as value goes, when compared to other stores it is pretty reasonable, with the exception of a few $30+ imports. This is also why I recommended going to Lukas Liquors. You can save a decent chunk of change by buying the same beer at Lukas because it is cheaper. However, if you are looking for rarer beers or more of a selection, this is the place to go.

I stopped by here right after my trip to Lukas Liquor. Davidson's is less than three miles straight west of Lukas, and they're both right off the same major road. The trip was worth the extra mileage.

I'll start off with the selection, because this is the first store I've ever given a '5' to. I spotted many beers I'd never seen anywhere else in Denver. Pick a country that brews beer, and you'll probably find something from there here. I walked away with beers from Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania and Morocco, and could have chosen many more. The traditional brewing countries are also well represented. US craft beer selection is excellent.

My only issues were with the scattered placement of the beer and the lack of sale items. Most of the beer is in coolers that stretch along two walls of the store. But other beers can be found out on the floor seemingly randomly placed where there happened to be some extra space. I did finally find some beers on clearance up at the front of the store by the registers. But that was it in the discount department.

The staff here was quite friendly and seemed knowledgeable. Despite the lack of sale items, prices were on par with other Denver area stores.

Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely be stopping in.

This is a great liquor store. They have a pretty good beer selection, and nice selection of singles. It's a larger selection that most places for sure.

My favorite thing about the place is below the beer is a label (where they show the name and price) that shows what country it's from. And they have a pretty vast choice of countries, like Morocco, India, Vietnam, etc... even if it's just one choice. It's a cheap way to travel the world.

They also have a great selection of single malt scotch. They have a few things that aren't at regular stores or at Lukas Liquor.

The service is amazing. There are a couple guys that are pretty familiar with beer, or at least love talking about it.

They also have sales regularly. Sometimes really fantastic bargains. Definitely worth stopping if you are nearby.

The selection of Belgian ales, specialty imports and high end craft singles is also pretty good, but seems a bit limited, especially in the Belgian ales. I've had a couple encounters with the beer staff and have been unimpressed with their knowledge and help. Prices are above average. Overall, this is one of the better stores in the area.

The very first stop made on a trip to Denver. This was also my first experiance in a liqour super store. My visit was around 6PM on a Friday night, so the place was hopping. I skipped all the wine to head straight for the beer coolers. It was absolutely amazing, and I was trying to find ways to justify spending all the money budgeted for the 3 day stay right then. The selection is incredible. I did not find everything I wanted, but close, and I made up for it with all the stuff I wasn't expecting to see. It was way too busy to talk with any of the beer staff about suggestions, so an hour of intense drooling led to some great purchases. This will be my first stop every time I head to Denver.

Davidson's is the best place to buy beer and wine in the Littleton/Lone Tree/Denver Tech Center areas bar none!

The beer selection is truly astounding-- everything from the usual watery big-brewer American beers, to bottle-fermented Belgian Ales. Whenever I'm looking for something new to try, I always visit Davidsons. They stock excellent micro-brew beers (DogFish Head, Victory, Sierra Nevada, O'Dells, etc...), and always manage to have a great supply of my favorite style (IPAs). I also like the selection of 22 oz beers-- there's usually something new to try.

Parking can be a challenge on Friday's and weekends approaching holidays, but it's definitely worth trying to squeeze in someplace!

Last time I was in I was able to score a case of Dogfish Head 60 for 28$ which is pretty good considering six-packs are usually 10$. The bomber coolers are my favorite Stone, Avery, GD, all the good stuff. Separate coolers for German, Belgian, micro, etc. So much good beer! They have a small selection of glassware that is better than most. The service sucks so don't bother asking for help. The "beer guy" obviously doesn't know shit about beer and seemed a little slow. Made my first stop at Davidson's recently. First impressions were two:
1. not enough parking.
2. this place is hugondous.

Signage was good, and they have the dozens of beer cooler doors labeled for ease of search. The quality seems good, and they certainly have an exceptional selection: the biggest liquor store in Colorado should have great selection. However -- and this is a BIG "however"! -- their service was really very unimpressive. I never could find the beer side guy (it is very obvious this place emphasizes wine WAY more than beer), so they had to call him on the pager from the front. After several minutes he hadn't shown up, so they paged him again, and he finally arrived. He hadn't heard of one of the beers my wife was looking for (granted, it's one that only has 30 reviews here on B-A), didn't know what I meant when I said "RIS," and was generally disinterested in my questions. Maybe he was having an off day or something.

Something else that I noted -- the place just isn't very clean. It's a bit cramped (for such a huge store, this was interesting!), and it seems a bit frumpy and worn around the edges. Moreover, no mixed-sixers discounts, and their prices are generally a bit higher than Liquor Max in Loveland and Wilburs in Fort Collins.

I probably won't go back, despite the huge selection.

This place is huge. From Louis xiv to icehouse they have it all. I believe 64 doors of beer, domestic, micro, import. Good selection of singles and six packs. It's not in the best part of the metro being that its south of really anything.
I mixed up a six pack from Dogfishhead to Petrus, with some Stone beverages in there as well. They have one door and one warm shelf for discounts and stacks of 12-packs.
Service was a bit disappointing; by 8pm the 'beer guys' were gone and no one else knew much about the beer. But I didn't care too much. I could have spent a ton of money there.

Update: It seems the BMC coolers have gained more space at the expense of craft sixers. Bomber selection has some holes. Service has suffered since the last time I was there...maybe 1 year ago, but get the beer dude. He knows his stuff.

This is THE stop in south Denver. A massive selection of brews of all kinds. There are a solid 5 coolers dedicated to bombers and single items now and I've found so many first rate beers here. Lots of European imports including almost an entire door dedicated to Belgians.
A solid selection of typical domestics, local brews, and more common imports as well. The Belgians are the highlight, but the German singles are also top-notch.
In all honesty, they carry almost anything you could want...and still hope to get here in Colorado. They carry more or less any US beer that's distributed to the area and the best import selection I've ever seen. Short of Westvleteren - you'll find anything else short of something obscure. You're obviously not going to find items from Great Lakes, Victory, etc. simply because they aren't distributed here...but no other stores will have them either!
Don't miss the glassware section across from the import cooler doors. You won't find a better selection in the metro area. There are also some leftover bombers or seasonals scattered in that area as well.
The only real downside is that if you do have a question, you might have difficulty finding someone near the beer. Because it's a massive store (biggest in the state as of '05), most of the help seems to be in the wine area. I have however talked to a staffmember or two and gotten sound advice.
In general, if you search Davidson's and Heritage (Tech Center, Arapahoe+Quebec), you should be able to find all but the most obscure brews distributed to Colorado.

The glassware selection is decent and the prices are good. I found the staff to be helpful, but they were obviously not big beer connoisseurs.
