12/30/07 from sample glass at brewery. Yellow-gold and hazy with some off-white head lingering around the edge of the glass. Sweet aroma with typical Belgian yeast phenolics and fruity esters. Very sweet with some nice Belgian fermentation character. Faint bitterness does not balance out the sweetness. Medium-full body with a long, sweet, sticky finish.

A friend who just got back from Napa Valley had visited the Silverado Brewing Company, and brought back some beers to try. This was one of them. (It's not retired, though perhaps it was for a time)

Poured from a Chilled Growler into a Bruery tulip glass.

The Beer pours slightly cloudy but is a hazy golden honey colored beer. About a half inch of head rose, but quickly faded to just a ring of bubbles, very little lacing.

The Aroma is sweet, with notes of tangerine, honey, and light citrus or orange, along with a tinge of yeasty esters.

The flavor has a citrus bite with a honey sweet edge upfront, with some flavor notes of toast, sweet crystal malt in the middle, and a mild but bitter crisp finish. As the beer warmed somewhat, the sweet flavors mellowed a bit, and the bitterness and yeast notes increased a bit.

Mouthfeel was light, dry, with little carbonation.
I think the Growler might have a lost a bit, since these are generally a bit more generously carbonated then this one appears to be.

Overall, not the best Tripel I've had, but I'm sure it is a nice change of pace up there in wine country.
