Our Alt is a much stronger version of the traditional Dusseldorf Altbiers. An ancient style from the Rhineland, Altbiers are ales that were virtually wiped out by German lagers in the 1800’s. We use plenty of European hops and German pilsner malts to brew a remarkably clean beer. We then rest it in the cooler for two months to achieve the mellow finish that is the Überalt’s trademark.

Notes from 2017. 6 pack of bottles.
Poured it looks like a tradition Alt Bier color. It's ringing in at 40IBU but it smells malty. It tastes super malty, is fluffy and soft with a slight hop bite then I taste some cocoa. Wow! I'll be looking out for more of this. It is excellent in it's style.

Poured from 12oz bottle into glass. Date marks on label refer to week 2 of August.
Deep amber colored body. Slightly cloudy. Two finger brown accented, off white head settles to cap with bubbles and ring. Good lattice work of lacing.
Aroma of malts, toffee, and sweet floral/fruity.
Taste of lightly roasted malts, fruity/nutty, and toffee/caramel. Has a dry finish.
Medium to creamy mouth feel, with evident alcohol.
Tasty for the style, but with higher ABV%.

Hit you in the face nutty, toasty, fruity aroma. Dark amber color, a bit hazy. Tall off-white head with large bubbles, dropping slowly leaving bubbly lacing. Mild & malty taste, initially a sharp taste, followed by a somewhat bitter middle and finish. A complexity of different flavors ... nutty, fruity, perhaps a bit of caramel. Overall, very flavorful, very nice.

Really nice to have a big strong malty brew like this one this time of year, and these guys have done an excellent job with it. Strong and German in nature, with great clarity in a deep copper to Amber colored brew, tall white lace head rests on top. Not at all sweet in the nose, more nutty and warmly toasted than toffee or brown sugar aromas, but both are there. Robust flavor, like a big richer octoberfest type grain base, that Munich type malt with some bigger crystal too. Remind me of the harvest, the is grainier than its peers, a cool snapshot of the fall, pole and even squash comes to mind, nice nuance here. Not much going on with the light bready yeast, but it does dry this out down to a surprising level, especially for the style. Overall Avery seasonally appropriate and delicious beer from these guys, who are very underrated in my experience with their beers. Fresh and well done, with a bit of a booze warmth to the finish and pretty much goes straight to the head. Fun and different, traditional but innovative too.

This beer pours a deep amber with a minimal head. The aroma leads with caramel and peat, as well as toffee, banana, date, vanilla, baking spice, and pear. The flavor starts with rich but not sweet vanilla and caramel flavors, fading to a toasty flavor that reminds me of waffles and maple syrup. The mouthfeel is full and creamy. Overall I was very impressed by this beer. The flavor evolves nicely over the sip and as it warms. There is so much going on, yet the beer manages to maintain a hearty relaxing quality. I can only say to brewers more Alts please.

from a bottle into a nonic, this is one of my favorite domestic alts (though I still haven't had the NG or Metropolitan alts, and admittedly, this one is pretty high abv); I look forward to it every year. pours a fairly clear reddish copper topped by a foamy 2 finger khaki head that subsides in a minute leaving decent lacing. big malty fruity nutty nose, sweetish herbal hops, and hint of caramel on the edge. Follows the nose, with great layers of flavor, the caramel malts are there but stays on the edge, a fruity (apple, plum, raisin), nutty core with some herbal hoppiness keeping things lively. Moderate body, medium carbonation, a little lively, and kind of dry at the end.

Reddish brown in color, with a finer of white head that dissipated, this is a pretty beer.

Smells of sugar and cola. Tastes like caramel and sugar, with a bit of that cold taste at the end. Moderate carbonation and a clean finish.

Not legendary, but I would have this anytime it's offered.
