fashioned on the classic dunkels, this is a hard one to critique. i think it looks, smells, and tastes pretty good, and even though it lacks that wow factor, its a fair enough representation of the style. i think all their beers may lack that world class defining element, but they are a steakhouse long before a brewery, and in that context, this is just fine with me. a heck of an early morning beer, and a good accompaniment to eggs and hash browns. clear ruby brown in color with a short and short lived light tan head, with a nose of bready lager yeast and sweet vienna type malt. its as much an amber ale in flavor as it is a dunkel, but with some banana notes and a drier finish than it seems like it should have, i think it fits the part fine. more bubbles would help this a lot, as would a little more yeast character, its almost irrelevant here. that said, i could drink a lot of this, even before 8am, and even on a heavy hangover (you can do that easily at the airport, A terminal i think). good not great, but better than expected. id like to go eat here and try a few other...

Appearance: Solid brown with decent lacing and a bit of foam. Fairly murky.
Smell: Lots of brown candy sugar. Very sweet.
Taste/Mouthfeel: More brown sugar. Very sweet beer overall with heavier malts rather than hops. Goes down smooth but slightly flat.
Overall: Excellent kegs and eggs beer during a long layover at Denver Airport, but I digress. Maybe a bit one note as far as sweetness, but the alcohol packs a punch, especially this early in the morning.

On tap at the Chop House at Denver International airport. Dark brown color, almost no head. Aroma of muted malts. Flavor was thin malts, mouthfeel was watery, easy to drink but why bother. For $9 a pint I expect a lot more out of a beer, this one was a bummer.
