A-Falling Rock is located in the heart of the bar/club/ball park area of downtown Denver. It has a slightly funky parking lot-ish patio that isn't exactly a quaint sidewalk cafe in Europe, but gets the job done. Inside, the place could be a beer bar in any city in America. It has beer paraphernalia on the walls and that slightly dark, dingy feel that lets you know this isn't TGI Fridays.

Q-The beer selection here is done right. They have top-end Colorado brews on tap and in the bottle, a good assortment of high-end American craft, and a smattering of well-known imports (bottle and draft) to fill things out. On any give day, you might find Pliny or Blind Pig or Petrus Aged Pale on tap. Ain't nothing wrong with that. (Their special events are good too).

Ser-The food and beer service is a little suspect. I have never encountered the rude service that people sometimes mention when discussing Falling Rock. On the contrary, the staff has been friendly each time I have visited, but I cannot fully endorse the servers. Sometimes beer and food come slowly or incorrectly prepared, and the waitstaff doesn't know all that much about the beers they are serving.

Sel-The breadth of beers available is quite good. The tap list covers a broad variety of styles and while it Colorado-centric, the Falling Rock does a good job of spreading the styles out. The bottle list, likewise, is good (if Colorado-focused) and covers a good variety of beer styles and breweries.

F-The food here is marginal. If you set your expectations at "bar food" level, you won't be disappointed, but compared to other beer-centric options in town, Falling Rock could step it up here. For example, my lunch has been a touch on the greasy side on multiple occasions, but the food is edible, if not gourmet.

V-I think the price of beer here is very reasonable, if not cheap for the downtown location. The prices for food, likewise are pretty good (although, as noted above, the food is not high-end).

Love the beer selection there, usually have really good beers there, as well has some hard to find beers, they usually have Pliny on tap, or at least something from Russian River. Service isn't the best and the food is mediocre at best, basic bar food. The main reason to go is for the beer, they have a great list of taps, and bottles/cans.

Pros: had Pliny the elder on tap outside of California. That was a nice surprise.
Cons: had Pliny the younger on tap last weekend and next weekend but I'm missing both because I'm only here for 2 days

OK, I'll admit, I went here expecting to hate this place. But, surprise, I ended up having a good time here during my Denver beer tour.

Place is smaller than I expected, but was able to snag a seat at the long bar. Service was great, the bartender was friendly enough and really hustled to service the crowd - able to answer a quick question or two and crack a smile as well (a rarity in beer geek bars nowadays). Of course, the selection is pretty impressive.

Yes, there are lot of insufferable beer geeks here, but I managed to avoid beer discussions with them.

Enjoyed a RR Blind Pig and a local IPA that was quite tasty. Had a cup of green chili that was surprisingly good too.

Finally - a beer bar that lives up to the hype.

I was a little disappointed after reading all the reviews. It's a cool beer bar for sure, nice patio as well. The service wasn't good at all. Their "cellar" list hasn't been updated since 9/15. Still a cool place to stop in Denver but nothing mind blowing b
