Notes / Commercial Description:
An artisan amber ale brewed in the Flanders tradition. Deep amber with earthy caramel, spice, and sour fruit notes developed through natural barrel aging. Unfiltered, unpasteurized and blended from barrels ranging in age from two to ten months.

A- brownish red with a good amount of head that fades fast but leaves a ring around the edge.

S- oak, vinegar, cherry, sour notes.

TM- Cherry, vanilla, dry, thin and highly carbonated. Medium level of sour.

O- its a good beer but could use a little more body, a little too dry for me, but I enjoyed the level of sourness. Good starter sour, but not one I would search out.

A: cloudy and hazy but a nice red color to it. minimal head.

S: Smells tart, fruity, and highly of cherry. Much like a cherry cough syrup mixed with a cherry warhead (candy).

T: Good initially taste of tart, fruity, cherry flavors. I am not a huge fan of the finish. Normally, they hage a big kick at the end but this one kind of fizzles at the end.

M: OKay mouthfeel. Not as carbonated as I thought it should be but has the right consistancy.

O: overall, it's an okay beer. Not the best red I've had but I wouldn't dump it down the drain either.

Blend 16, Bottled 8/30/2011
Poured from a 750 into a wine glass (after five minutes of letting it gush).
A: No head now but that’s probably because it gushed all over the place for five minutes before I poured it. Amber/red color.
S: Sour like a limbic, tart and musty with hints of apples.
T: Slightly sour and maybe some light fruitiness, not much here.
M: The sourness comes out here and makes for a fruity taste. Sour not sweet and very funky, not all that strong but tart. Some oak and reminds me of wine a little bit but nothing extra special.
O: Good, not great. This is by no means the world’s best Wild Ale but its interesting enough to try and keep a bottle on hand. B range

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into my usual stemless wine glass.

A: Very well carbonated. Maybe a little over. Such a great amber color.

S: Funky and fruity just like it should smell. Lots of yeast, along with some cherry and citrus.

T: Was looking for a little more tartness but overall really darn good.

M: Very very fizzy, definitely on the higher end of the carbonation scale.

O: A fantastic example of a Flanders Ale. Looking for a little more tartness but overall an amazing beer. I'll be coming back to this one.

Sapsuckers in Huntington, NY poured this beer into a brandy snifter glass and provides a thin ivory head. In the glass it is slightly cloudy with a orangy/reddish hue. This beer has aromas of oak, cellars, and fine wine. On the pallette this beer is funky, with hints of oak, sourness, and tartness. Did a good job holding up to a shepard's pie made with venison & sweet potatoes. A very nice beer.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into my trusty snifter. On the label: "Blend 4, Bottled 4-23-10". So over a year and a half from bottling date.

A: Bubbles started to foam out of the top of the bottle before I could even pour - should be very well carbonated. Hazy brownish amber beer. A one finger off white head...and yes, plenty of bubbles evident.

S: Funky and fruity. Lots of yeasty, estery tart notes in the nose along with some cherry and citrus. Bready malt background.

T: Plenty of acidic tartness up front that fades into a blend of berries and citrus notes. Vinegar, cherry, orange rind. A solid caramel malt presence as well...more so in the taste than was in the nose. Such a nice tartness all the way through though...very, very nice.

M: Fizzy, definitely on the higher end of the carbonation scale. But you need that in such a tart beer to elp move it across the palate. Thin to medium-thin bodied. Very dry but very refreshing.

O: A fantastic example of a Flanders Ale. Very tart up front, but it isn't a one trick pony...there's a solid malt presence and plenty of fruit and citrus to help round it out...really starting to dig this brewery.
