Thin neck forced a chugging that produces a rich creamy almost 2 finger head, fades semi slowly with lots of layered lacing, very dark molasses color with faint hints of mahogany light sneaking through.

Nose starts with fresh roasted coffee beans and fresh brewed coffee fairly strong, then light dusty wood and toasted oak, then the sour saison rises, slowly at first then increases, a light sour funk like lactobaccillus, hint of saison grainy malts and straw, and touches of spices from saison and light baking spices, and faint cocoa and caramel in there. Very complex.

Trade starts with more fresh coffee, more brewed coffee but light roasted beans as well. That brings a bit of bitterness, coffee bitterness. Then light toasted oak, with touch of wood dust. Then quickly into sour saison, following the same path as the nose, with fair but not overwhelming sour funk, again probably lactobaccillus. There is also light grainy malt and light farmhouse saison flavors, hint of grassy straw and earthy barn floor. Light spices in there, some saison with hint of citrus, and light baking spices. It gets slightly yeasty with the bready. Fair sweetness too, little syrupy and sticky, and faint caramel. Coffee sneaks through one more time as it finishes, fairly sticky and syrupy, little flemmy, long sour funk finish, with hint more saison flavors and yeasty flavor, hint of spices and toasty but soured malts lingering.

Mouth is med bodied, slightly syrupy, good carb.

Overall really interesting, lots of great flavors and aromas, but they don't seem to blend well, it's kinda all over the place. Still tasty, and nice fresh coffee with the only meh flavor being the yeasty flavor.

Big thanks goes out to CManuel for sharing this one! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured a deep red brown with a three finger light tan head that subsided to a half finger slowly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, smoke, cigar, pepper, and spice. The flavor was of sweet malt, spice, pepper, funk, and wood. It had a light feel on the palate with very high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty decent brew. The carbonation aspect on this one was just a little too high for my liking. The flavor also had a quite weird note on this one with a big earthy funk. The nose reminded me of a cigar if I'm honest. Glad I got the chance to try this one, but the beer definitely did have some preventable shortfalls. Worth trying if you get the chance though.

Chris’s bottle from Ann Arbor location. Coffee aroma. A huge head mocha coloured on very dark brown. A coffee saison, spicy though not getting peppercorns. Not too sour. Coffee well integrated and good drinkability. More than middling mouthfeel. Something different from JP.

Poured from the bottle into a tasting snifter.

A: Pours a dark brown with two fingers of off white head. The head sticks around nicely.

S: Quite different. I'm getting coffee and herbs. Mild sweetness with some dark fruit.

T: Lots of coffee, but there is still a strong herbal presence. The beer manages to have a light, refined taste. Some dark fruit sweetness as well. Coffee in the finish.

M: Medium body with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

O: A coffee saison is a weird idea. It worked for me. I'd have it again.

750mL bottle poured into a tulip. Thanks again to Matt for sharing!

(A)- Pours nearly pitch black in color. Produced an absolute mountainous tan fluffy head with huge clumps of lacing left behind once it finally dissipated; perfect retention.

(S)- An obvious coffee grounds aroma up front. Quite dry behind that with a bit of biscuit and cocoa.

(T)- Again, very coffee forward. Touches of a creamed coffee type flavor in the middle with bits of pepper and biscuit. The faintest hint of a dry oaky tartness at the end.

(M)- A good carbonation level and balance. Lets be honest, very little about this beer reminds me of a saison since it is so coffee forward, but it does have a nice feel to it overall. The ever so slightly bitter and tart at the end is a nice play for the beer's complexity.

(O)- Despite this being quite the oddball for the style, I really enjoyed the trip this took me on. Unique to say the least, but it just works somehow. I applaud Jolly Pumpkin on their ingenuity when it came to make this beer a reality.

Shared by Adam. Thanks man. The beer appears brown with a small off white head. The aroma brings coffee, funky yeast, spice. A bit odd. Flavors don’t cooperate too well. It’s just weird having saison type funk with prominent coffee. Interesting and worth a try, but not my cup of tea.

Received as an extra in a trade and poured in to my Duvel tulip.

A - Poured a deep dark brownish black with a super light almost garnet hue around the edged. Atop sat a nice two finger super light mocha creamy head that faded to leave TONS of sticky side lacing. Excellent.

S - Super, super different aromas here. Lightly funky with lots of coffee bean aroma along with some roasty toasty malts and the typical Jolly Pumpkin spice blend notes.

T - Hah, definitely somehow one of the weirdest beers I've ever tasted. Initial coffee roast and then WHAM sour. Its even on the weak end of a Jolly Pumpkin sour profile but its enough to make me recoil in confusion. There is a faint, faint saison hint at the end but for all intensive purposes this is a sour cup of coffee. It works, but I dont really like it...

M - Mouthfeel is highly carbonated, typical with Jolly Pumpkin. Still though its a bit high for this style, atleast for me.

O - Overall this was one bizarre beer. It was cool but just did not work for me. Tremendous clash between black coffee and sour funky saison.
