Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with tons of big carbonation bubbles seen clinging to the glass and a big fizzy white head floating atop the brew. The head fades over about a two minute time period to leave alight level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is a mix of more grainy and bready smells with some rather stronger herbal, grassy, and earthy hop aromas. Along with these smells comes some aromas of a lemon and caramel.

Taste – The taste begins with a grainy and bready taste with some hints of caramel sweetness and a light showing of some hop of an herbal and floral nature. A lemon flavor later comes to the tongue with it being accompanied by some more hop flavors of floral and grass nature as well as a bit of a more earthy and somewhat vegetal taste. With a lessening of the caramel and bready flavors and in arrival of a lemon flavor coming along with an increase in the earthy hop flavors (which become the dominant of the hop flavors) one is left with a somewhat dank and oddly bready and lemon, dirty hopped flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average as well. A little bit higher of a carbonation and a bit lighter feel may have been slightly better overall, but in the end the feel was still alright.

Overall – Ah… Nothing all that special here. The sorta vegetal and more earthy hop flavors take away from the vibrance and crisp of the more standard bready and lightly hopped flavors of the brew and make this one almost to dank and heavy for the style to really enjoy. Just OK.

Not a big fan of pilsner, but I do enjoy one on occasion. On this hot fall day this beer was perfect. Nice floral aroma without the usual adjunct lager smell. Pours nearly clear light amber with a long lasting lacing after the initial white foamy head. The taste is very clean with a touch of malt and bitter in the finish, I presume they call that crisp and snappy. Personally I never liked those descriptors; crisp is for fried chicken, and snappy is for service, not beer.

Poured a golden pale clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of off-white head, which dissipated rather quickly. Some bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. No lacing along the sides. Minimal retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 3.25)

Smelled corn, Czech pilsner spices, light citrus hops, honey, grassy notes, crisp lemon and caramel malts (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted Czech pilsner spices, corn, peppery spices, grass, wheat, honey, citrus hops, crisp lemon and caramel. (Taste - 3.75)

Light body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, refreshing finish. (Feel - 3.50)

I liked this beer, just a good pilsner. (Overall - 3.75)

Poured a light brassy hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a doughy pils malt and light herbal hop.

The taste offered a clean pilsner malt and a adequately vibrant herbal Czech hop spice.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a very tasty pilsner. The best one from Saranac to date.
