Poured out a deep golden/amber color with a off-white head. Smell consisted of malts and various other fruits (blueberries and raspberries mostly) with a faint aroma of wheat and yeast in the background. Taste wasn't all that sweet. Mostly malts with fruity flavors rushing in. A touch of honey comes in the middle and finishes it all out. Mouthfeel was light and I thought it was a tad too thin for my liking. Ok carbonation. Not a bad dessert beer, or to even have on a hot summer night.

This was part of a summer sampler 12 pack. Some hits, some misses; this was one of the misses. It was a pretty red/orange color with a medium head that quickly disappeared. Aroma was all fruit. Taste almost all sweet fruit (way too sweet) with a tiny bit of hops. The label on the bottle says "look for balance between hops and fruit." I didn't find it.

Presentation: 12 oz brown long neck bottle with no freshness date.

Appearance: Crystal clear amber hued brew with a big foaming head that settles down to an average white lace.

Smell: Clean aroma, fruitiness is confused coming from both the yeast as well as the fruit added to the beer. Faint grain in the back also … very clean.

Taste: Moderate body with a level carbonation, thin on the malt which is noticeable right away. Dash of hop bitterness creeps in and seems out of place in comparison to the malt. Mixed berry twang taste like a new Jolly Rancher flavour though seems more in balance than anything else. Vague fermented honey flavour as well as a faded but clean grain flavour in the finish. All in all a sweet brew.

Notes: This is pretty much an American cookie cutter fruit beer. Nothing great or remotely interesting, just a light ale flavoured with fruit.

Presentation: 12 oz amber bottle. No freshness dating.

Appearance: Bubbly light amber color with an aggressive off-white head the settles down and behaves itself.

Smell: "Fresh fruit" aroma of berries and some sweetness are present. Not over-powering, though.

Taste: Lots of carbonation in this beer. The taste is reminds me of cherry 7-up. There is some fruit flavor that is present and it blends nicely with the malty sweetness. Barely any hop presence to speak of.

Mouthfeel: Slightly puckering flavor and bubbly carbonation make for a tangy mouthfeel.

Drinkabilty: Not a beer I would keep on hand or actively seek out again. Probably more of a light after-a-meal beer.

look: 3.5 | smell: 2.5 | taste: 2 | feel: 3 | overall: 1.5

Appearance: Hazy golden brown, head's decent, lacing's decent. Nothing noteworthy, but it looks nice enough in my pint glass.

Smell: If you like the smell of sweet grape juice, I suppose this is for you. I'd say vinous, but it's so damn sweet smelling that it's far from the essence of wine. Almost identical to a wine cooler. This is really weird and surprising.

Taste: Too sweet overall. Way too much sugar, berry, grape, and whatever the hell else is contributing to the sweetness. Everything's very much overdone.

Mouthfeel: Slick body, a little watery, and a little too much carbonation.

Drinkability: I think my girlfriend -- who isn't the biggest beer fan, and I've let her try some great stuff -- would really like this. But then again, she doesn't really dig good beer all that much. Otherwise, this is tough to finish, way too sweet, and pretty disappointing.

Let this one warm up. I tried drinking this right out of the fridge and got nothing. Anyways...

Amber color looks nice, but the head is gone in no time like most Saranacs. I really have a hard time getting a discernable smell here. A touch of fruit, but not much. Tastes of bittersweet berry fruit. The fruit and honey don't do much, but at least there's a little bitterness. The bitterness makes it standout from alco-pops, and while its carbonated accordingly, I won't be drinking this again anytime soon.

Brownish gold color with an off-white head.
Aroma of sweet berries and pale malt. Faint aroma is pleasing and would score well if it were more pronounced.

Taste is very low key in all aspects. Mild sweet and tart berry flavors with faint sweet pale malts all in balance with mild hop bitterness. Not overly sweet like many fruit beers. Finishes well.

Light bodied and thin mouthfeel.
Good drinkability due to being quite mild-mannered.
Overall, not a lot of character, but still a good fruit beer.

Pours a light ruby red with some tan like highlights. The nose is sweet fruits—raspberries and zesty lemon notes. Another difficult aroma to pinpoint, without spending too much effort. Up front, light and tender hops, the stage is set for the berries—my palate says mostly raspberries, perhaps some blueberry offerings in there as well. Medium to full bodied, slightly carbonated; the body feels as if this were a berry-type yogurt, even with the yogurt-like texture. Decent fruit beer offering.

Pours a pleasing light copper with a quickly dissipating head. Distinct honey and berry on the honey side. Honey remains in the taste, with some distinct berry tartness...not much on the malt or hops side...which would have improved the flavors imho. Mouthfeel is a taf chewy and full...honey out of the bottle? The honey texture adds to the smoothness of the brew, therefore drinkability is good. One of the better examples of a fruit beer.

Poured from a 12 oz. Bottle to my 12 oz glass mug. Nice dark amber colored liquid with good carbonation and a big off white head. Fades slowly leaving some lace.

The smell is of fresh malt and some faint fruits, nice hop balence.

The taste is about the same nice fresh malts and fruits, very summery.

The mouth feel is good, nice carbonation and a good body.

Drinkability is also good, Nothing bad about this fine summer offering.

This beer pours a hazy reddish golden color with a moderate white dissipating head. The smell is perfumey and faint artificial smelling fruit. The taste is malty with an artificial fruet flavor witha mild unpleasant hoppiness. An almost fair fruit beer that is lacking in a natural seeming fruit flavor.

Purchased part of the Saranac Summer 12 pack (6 different beers)

Poured into a pint glass, not much of a head. Has a darker amber color.

Very fruity smell for a beer, I agree with other people about the name of the beer, it doesnt really go with the characteristics of the beer.

Taste was light and along with the berry taste it had hints of honey

As far as mouthfeel, it doesnt really leave a lasting impression in your mouth, almost watery

It is easy to drink because of the light body, the sweetness does not work well. Obviously a summer beer though

Pours a nice orangish color with a slight redish tint to it and a decent foamy head that sinks a little too fast. The smell is some more subtle fruity aromas and some decent bready maltiness with a faint background of subtle hops. The flavors is a bit overpowering with the berry tastes and the malt soon takes a backseat. The lack of other flavors and any real maltiness knocks this brews mouthfeel back a bit. This beer actually reverse grew on me, I liked it more at the start than at the end. It seems that as the beer warms and sits it gets a stronger fruit flavor and becomes almost syrupy and sticky.

Pours a clear light amber/copper color. Lots of tiny bubbles streaming from the bottom of the glass. Thin white head disappeared quickly, leaving no lace. Sweet honey, berry aroma along with a hint of citrus. Some caramel-like malt flavor followed by berries and sweetness. Medicinal. Little bitterness. Light body, high carbonation. The medicinal off-taste in the finish detracts from drinkability. Could be slightly refreshing on a hot summer day. Nothing great here.

I was surprised to enjoy this one as it seemed like it was going to be overly fruity from its description.

It pours a decent amber colour with a medium sized head atop to body.

The aroma is of fruit and wheat primarily, with berries being a bit more dominant. Some sweet caramel is in the mix here as well, along with a touch of hops.

The flavour is more of the same. Fruit is again the leader but is not overpowering by any means. Malt and wheat break up the sweetness from the fruit and caramel nicely for a well balanced taste. Hops kick around in the back as well. Mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing and fairly light bodied.

This was a nice thirst quencher on a hot summer day. Could I drink it all night? Probably not, but I'd be happy to sample it again.

Got this in the summer sampler pack. Pours a dark amber streaked with red and a small off-white head that quickly fades to a wispy cap. Smell is pretty weak, mainly malt and honey, just the faintest wiff of berries. Taste is subdued blackberries, tart rasberries, honey and malt---not as flavorful as I would have wished. Medium/thin bodied with a good level of carbonation this is a decently refreshing beer. I'd never go out of my way for this one, but it serves it's purpose as a summer thirst quencher.

The beer pours a transpicuous deep amber color with the head impressive in size, frothy texture and the lace fine sheets to coat the glass, both light tan in color. The aroma of fresh ripe fruit, malt, sweet and pleasant to the nose, with the start cloyingly sweet, the top cadaverous. Finish is pertinently acidic, the hops sparse and the finish dry and sweet, a bit to thin-waisted for me.

Poured a dark copper hue with a half finger creamy head. There was poor retention and lacing.

The smell was dominated by the raspberries. There was a noticable yeast element and a minor honey aroma.

The taste started off with a mild berry tartness, but soon morphed into an annoying honey sweetness. The taste would have been much better without the honey. This would have been a much better beer had the flavor stayed tart and dry.

The mouthfeel was average. The quick tart to sweet sensation was confusing and a bit unappetizing.

Not very drinkable. Again, too sweet. In my opinion, honey is not an attractive ingredient in beer.

Appears a red toned amber with a fluffy, sticky white head. Streaks of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of sweet berries and candy raspberries.
Taste is of the same aromas with a mild malt trying to break through the sweet, and perhaps mildly tart raspberries and blackberries and just a touch of honey.
Mouthfeel is light, sweet, and thin in the swallow.
This one appeals to chicks and college crowds alike.

Pours a light amber color with a big foamy head that settles fast, and leaves little lace. Clean aroma with some grain and fruit. Tastes like a beer with hints of fruit. Fruit flavors are not overwhelming. Smooth but thin mouthfeel. Nothing great about it but it's not bad either. A little disappointing as I was expecting a little more.

Working my way through the summer 12 pack it's time for this brew. Didn't look at what I was grabbing until after I poured it. One of the better ones in the 12 pack IMHO.

A - Surprise- a nice rich amber colour with a medium sized head atop to body.

S - wheat and malt with a steady ripe fruit aroma. A hint of hops?

T - semi artificial fruit and a more robust (for this 12 pack) malt and wheat undertone. A touch of tartness from the hops keeps if from being cloying.

M / D - light bodied and tasty. Nice that there were 2 to sample. good for the summer brew.

This beer pours a clear amber color with a copper hue. The frothy white head also has a sorta reddish tint to it. Lots of visible carbonation. Fruity malt (mostly a berry aroma) in the nose, with both a slight yeast note and some very subtle vinegary sourness. As for the taste, the berry flavors come through (at least somewhat) clean, along with some grain and a touch of sourness. A slight hop flavor mellows out the sweet fruitiness of this brew. A somewhat unimpressive, grainy finish. A nice, fairly silky mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

A decent brew, refreshing and drinkable, though a bit thin. Recommended

Another pick from the Summer sampler. I like the idea of a mountain ale, even if I'm not too sure that Saranac can deliver on it.

Color is a gaudy amber, almost completely headless. The nose is fruity but minimal.

Taste is overshadowed by overcarbonation. Fruit is present but barely an afterthought. Aftertaste is decent but this still isn't real inspiring.

Good thing I like Saranac because this brew isn't going to hold up long on its own. Try again, boys.
