Looked all neat, almost ruby grapefruit lots of carbonation, head retention. Kinda smelled the part, fruit.

Taste, a sweet mess. Just drink Kool Aid and amp up the sugar, blend it with one of their other questionable beers (amber wheat) and you've got this beer. Just a brutal drainpour. Save this for a sugar craving or something.

A: Flimsy head that immediately dissapeared. Pale yellow and cloudy (even for a wheat).

S: The smell was very sour. I was almost unable to justify drinking it based on first impressions.

T: Sour taste as well. Should have trusted my nose.

M: Mouthfeel kind of rough, difficult swallowing it even.

D: Not very smooth or particularly drinkable.

I don't know what I was expecting, but I am surprised this beer has been rated so highly by the rest of the BA community.

Golden color somewhere in between yellow and pink grapefruit. Drops a ton of carbonation, makes a 4/5" head, average retention. Had some kind of fruit juice smell, like those apple juices with other berries to change the color.

Taste is overly sweet, did they just homebrewer shortcut this one and dump pomegranate juice into a beer? Wheat base not enough to overcome cloying sweetness.

Beetus joke here.

12 oz bottle. Pours golden, hazy from yeast with a nice head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma is fruity (reminds me of soda), bready. Light body. Taste like sweet, carbonated fruit juice. Sugar and honey dominate the flavor, some pomegranate perhaps. Good for thirst quenching but not much else

Picked this one up for my wife yesterday as part of a mixed six pack. Luckily I only grabbed one, as this one really sucked. After about half the bottle between us, we gave it to Hank the Dog, who looked at it and walked away. Poured a lightly hazy golden color with a fluffy white head. Very muted aromas, a little wheat and a little pomegranate but not much else. Same on the palate, not a lot of flavor, crisp and light bodied.

A - light golden with a definite pinkish hue, a thin pinkish tinted head fades to a wisp almost immediately

S - a normal BMC lagerish aroma with a fruity aroma, had i not known it was pomegranate i wouldnt have been able to identify it, but i definitely agree that it is a pomegranate aroma

T - the taste is a bit better than the aroma, doesnt taste BMC lagerish, but the fruit and wheat flavors, which nonetheless are decent, seem tacked on to a metallic low quality malt base

M&D - a soda like fizziness denies this beer smoothness, but gives it some life on the palate, not a great beer, but neat to try once, had it at the Ct Beer fest, was a bit better there, maybe it just needs to be colder

A – Pours a light, one finger white head with a cloudy yellow body like a hefeweizen – typical of the style.

S – Very faint aroma, low malty character, no fruit present.

T – Tastes like a very watered down Boysenberry wheat. Pomegranate is only hinted in the aftertaste, and inconsistently at that.

M – Maybe a bit overcarbonated, but appropriate for the style and the season – produces a crisp mouthfeel, a little sticky.

D – Overall, I wasn’t very impressed with this offering. Between the loud bottle design and promise of a fruitier drink, this one fails to deliver much of a memorable taste. As a pale Wheat, it’s middle of the road, as a fruit beer, it’s lackluster. Maybe I just got a bad bottle.

Cloudy, yellowish red. Minimal white head that disappears quickly. Smell is light. Wheat with fruit, but it doesn't remind me of pomegranate. Taste is hard to pin down. Yeasty and wheaty and slight fruit-like taste but it doesn't taste like pomegranates to me. There's a strange taste, and now that I notice it the smell is similar. I'm assuming it comes from the malt and wheat, but I can't describe it. It kind of tastes like some breweries smell. That strange malt-like aroma, but I've never tasted it in a beer before. Lots of carbonation. Thin. Would be refreshing if it were a little fruitier. You could throw down a bunch of these if you wanted, but I wouldn't. This is my first Saranac Brew. Hopefully their other offerings are a little better.

(A) poured into my Watou's Wit glass. very nice honey, amber color and a translucent haze. there is a somewhat below average head which receded to spotty lacing. generous carbonation remains visible till the end. an enjoyable beer to look at.

(S) very-ripe fruit, and an accompanying cidery character. i'm not noticing much malt on the nose, but i like cider so this could work.

(T) a lot like it smells, but this was, to me, unfortunate. while not sour by any means, this beer has a noticeable acidic taste. the over-ripe cider taste gives way to a cloying sweetness which reminds me of white grape soda or apple juice. i try to tell myself, "i'm just tasting the 'pomegranate' " but i'm not so sure. hops were, somewhat less distinct even for the style.

(M) thin mouthfeel coupled with vigorous carbonation enhance the soda-like characteristics of the taste. not really my preference.

(D) i have fond memories early on in my beer drinking of happily sessioning these. for whatever reason, i had trouble finishing this one tonight.

App: Cloudy amber with a slight red hue

Smell: Mostly pomegranate with honey second. Barely resembles a wheat ale let alone a beer.

Taste: Starts with a drop of pomegranate. Sweet with a honey taste that dominates. Ends with a touch of wheat malt.

Nice level of carbonation. Has a sticky, thick mouth feel that is reminiscent of juice from concentrate that needs more water.

Despite all of this, it is highly drinkable, but I don't want another. I've had one previously, and I remember it having more pomegranate flavor.

Overall, tastes more like a honey wheat. Needs both more pomegranate and wheat.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

A- pours...I don't know how to describe this. A very, very cloudy...yellowish...pinkish...kinda thing. It doesn't look like beer, thats for sure. Head is one finger, an offshade of white. Fades quickly.

S- it smells like sour strawberries. The bottle isn't infected...pretty sure they're trying to get some pomegranate flavor in there, and are failing miserably.

T- its actually got a decent flavor, albeit very mild. Slight sweetness from the pomegranate...fruity. Interesting for the style. Finish is a little bitter actually...

M- alright. Its got an odd thickness that somehow appeals to me...feels a little like a smoothie

D- eh, its alright. Pomegranate doesn't mix well with beer...maybe if the flavors were a little stronger, it would. As is...meh

Saranac- Pomegranate Wheat

Appearance- light hazy orange with a small, quick dissapating head.
Smell- Sugary sweet with light cherry/ pomegranate aroma.
Taste- Candy sweet, like sweet tarts. Light tart cherry/ pomegrate with a touch of apricot wheat.
Mouthfeel- Sweet up front and watery throughout.

Overall- Quite bland. Not worth the $2 I paid for a 12oz.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked 1119-1800. Sampled on May 20, 2009. It pours a cloudy lemony-looking amber with a dash of fuzzy head that sticks around for most of the sampling. I really do not catch whiff of anything extraordinary in the aroma. It has a faint wheat-like or grassy smell but I did not notice any pomegranate. Kind of a watered down mouth feel. The flavor lends itself OK for a hot day but it is rather tart and sour. I notice a tidbit of pomegranate in the taste but not the aroma. Eh, nothing to write home about.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass, a part of a Saranac sampler pack picked up at the grocery store. Pours a medium yellow, slightly cloudy. Both the smell and the taste are a little too sour for my taste, too fruity, though not particularly pomagranate. I probably wouldn't do this one again.

poured from the bottle (with an endearing and dumb story about trading bears honey for pomegranates on it) into a Weizen glass.

A - Pours a moderately hazy gold with a fluffy two finger white head that is disappearing quite fast. The head is gone 3/4 down the glass, leaves behind no lacing.

S - Not much at all upon opening the bottle. Some feeble wheat malt and pomegranate notes strain to reach the nose. In the glass these scents become more pronounced.

T - Very little upfront other than a little bit of wheat malt. The body is a balance between wheat, pomegranate and yeast flavors and is an awkward combination. It taste like someone injected some flavored syrup into a dull wheat beer. The finish is a flash of pomegranate, which fades into a wheaty-yeasty aftertaste.

M - light to medium bodied with moderate-low carbonation, could much use even more carbonation to go with some of the intense sweetness of this beer.

D - I struggled a bit to get thru this beer both times I had it. The sickly sweet pomegranate flavors and wheat taste conflict with each other and the result is an unpleasant, simple beer which I can only assume was targeted at females and macro beer drinkers. I've never been a fan of flavored wheat beers and this is no exception. Thumbs down from me Saranac. Maybe you should have kept that honey you traded and used it to brew something decent.

Um... So yeah, pours an amber type color with a white headskie... but um, where do we go from there? Taste is nice and smooth, but nothing wonderful. Not well drinkable or mouthfelt at hand. Alas, Saranac has yet another subpar brew on their hands...

Tried this brew in English pint glasses and chalices and a variety of tempertures but couldn't find a good range for this brew.

The pour finds a craggy bubbled head that starts out fine but dissapated too quickly. Almost no lace and the head is not typical of the style.

The aroma is very subdued with a little fruit and even less bread. The brew has some carconation and is asomewhat cloudy golden color.

THe lack of a decent nose doesn't help the mouth which is thin, but is a bit better when on the cooler side.

The finsh is again lacking with some vague aftertaste that is not unpleasant, just lacking.

I bought this beer to accompany a pre-ballgame breakfast i was hosting. I got some SA Blackberry Wit as well, which i had previously tried at a beer lover's choice brunch.

The pour was what you would expect from a wheat, with a decent amount of head. There wasn't the overpowering pomegranate flavor that i was worried about, but in this case it wasnt a good thing. The traditional wheat flavors were masked by a bitter, slightly fruity tang that left my toungue itchy. The mouthfeel was rough and i struggled to get through it. Not a horrible beer but just not good. Not really what i wanted to accompany my bacon and eggs. There are better fruit wheat beers to be had.
