Decent Vienna lager...

The pour from the bottle was a very good sight to witness - the beer pours out a burnt orange color, appealing to the eye with light foam and no staying power. The smell was frankly unimpressive, with a mouthfeel that bounced between astringency and lightness. I found this to be filled a touch of cinnamon, cardamon, and some spicy after affect. Overall, this was decent enough and one that I wouldn't turn down in the future.

12 oz bottle. Best before Dec 31, 2018. Part of the German Roots mixed pack.

This Vienna-style lager pours medium amber in color with a tall, fluffy white head with great retention. Bright with brilliant clarity. Just a beautiful looking beer.

Aroma is on the lighter side but bready malts and floral hops come through slightly. Flavor is right on point. Excellent balance between bready/toasty malts and noble hops. Clean, smooth, and easy on the palate. Finishes dry, almost chalky. Medium-light bodied.

Das Boot is a stupid name but, make no mistake, this is a serious beer. Spot on for the style. Probably the best beer of the four in the mixed pack. I hope Saranac decides to brew this again.

L: Amber/burnt orange, clear. Little head retention
S: Light aroma, toasty caramel-like malts and floral hops.
T: Great IMO. On the drier side, there are touches of toasted malt. Nice sweetness as well, caramel primarily. Finishes with a clean hop bite. Hops are really zesty and floral.
F: Has a nice body to it, not too light and watery, but still easy to drink.
O: certainly a solid offering, something I'd certainly revisit.

Poured into a narrow tulip shaped pint glass: color is amber, transparent, head is light tan with fine and small bubbles, head presents 1/2 inch thick and then dissipates to thin top with some lacing on the glass sides.

Smell is pleasant light caramel and toasty malt, light clean grassy hops.

Taste is similar with light caramel, toasted malt, not quite vienna malt depth but still pleasant tasting; hops are herbal and just balancing.

Mouthfeel is a bit sharp and strongly carbonated with lingering crispness on the tongue.

Overall a good, pleasantly malty lager with strong carbonation in the mouthfeel.

Pours an octoberfest color with plenty of head and carbonation, smell is only slight, initial taste is full of flavor, easy drinking with a mild finish, the feel is crisp and clean, overall another awesome brew from saranac
