a tasty pale ale or session ipa type here brewed with tangerine and orange peel and a bunch of now classic hops. its the first one i grabbed from this new saranac mix box, and i liked it pretty well, especially in the context of slugging it from the bottle on a hot day, the citrus isnt overdone but gives it a nice pop, and its still well hoppy underneath, just not bitter at all, maybe the least bitter hop forward beer i have had from saranac, who always seems to make them bitter in some way or another. unfortunately, i dont think ive ever love the fermentation profile from this brewery, i always chalked it up to their beer being old school and malty and sort of metallic or something, but now i think its from a tired old english type yeast that probably worked a lot better in the beers they were making a decade ago than it does with these more modern ingredients and processes. i identify what i now know to be a house flavor, and i think its unflattering, even if its less obvious in this one than in some of the others in the box, i think thats why a lot of these beers have been kind of samey over the years. still though, i like this, the freshness is there, it has a nice sudsy feel, the mosaic and citra love the orange added in, and the carbonation is nice and high. best when ice cold, and very summery. if you taste this blind and you saranac at all, youll know it comes from them, and in this instance i dont mean that as a compliment...

Look: It pours hazy orange with a white head. Head retention is moderately low.

Smell: Tangerine and orange are the most dominant aromas with some floral in support.

Taste: The orange peel is prominent with tangerine and floral flavors. There is a bit of pine and some grainy sweetness.

Feel: It has a medium body with a bit of a bitter bite to it.

Overall, it has good citrus flavors, but there is a bit of harshness that throws it off a bit.
