Appearance- Perfectly clear bright yellow with a foamy white head.

Smell- Lemoncello and Oats. Sweet cakey aroma, and Not a whole lot here that you wouldn't expect to find.

Taste- Refreshing, sweet lemonade trapped in a bready bubble, if that makes sense. I am surprised how nice it is, sweet and tart. Good for people who like a sweet easy drinker.

Mouthfeel- Light and a little syrupy, not to sticky though. Very bubbly on the tong, not unlike Moscato D' Asti.

Drinkability- Largely depends on the weather. This is a good beginners beer, good for people who like Moscato wines.

Overall- This is a good beer, Lemon lager, something I have never seen before that I really like. Beer snobs won't like it but they never like anything.

All in all it does what it implies. It refreshes you in the summer.

saranac totally missed the boat with this one imo. its not entirely terrible but it is not something i would ever ever go back to.

poured from bottle into mug.

apearance is a typical american macro, yellow gold with lame fizzled white head. only difference is the presence of visable carbonation. smell is very weak, artificial lemon lime. thats all i got on the smell. tastes more of lemon lime soda then beer entirely and its an overly sweet artificial fruit taste. dare i say that bud light lime taste more like a real lime? well it does to me. mouthfeel is average, medium light body high carbonation (expected in a fruit brew) and slightly sticky sweet feel. drinkability is not good imo. mix 7up and budlight and try to drink that. its strange and different. not terrible but not good at all.

12oz bottle.
A) Straw color. Transparent. Upward CO2. Pours with with a tight two finger head then settles to a thin and somewhat sticky lacing.
S) Wheaty. Sugary sweet. Dry grain.
T) Wheaty. Lemonade. Light hops in the finish. Dry grains in the aftertaste. Soda-esque.
M) Crisp. Bubbly. Dry in the aftertaste. Gritty.
D) Great for a hot summer day. I'd drink another on a hot day.

Lager and lemonade with natural flavors.

A: Poured a very light macro-gold with a frothy 1 finger bright white head that turned soapy and quickly collapsed within the first minute of pour. A soapy ring lacing with an initial strong macro-bubbly carbonation only fuels the macro-like appearance.

S: The nose or rather lack of was hard to rate as there wasn't much to go on here. Imagine if you will watered down lemonade. If you divulge even deeper the faintest hints of light straw and grains can be detected if you concentrate, close your eyes and dream a little dream. This manages a unimpressive rating here by default simply because there was nothing here to offend or justify a bad rating.

T: The flavor was tart watery lemonade, tangy and citric. The lemonade flavor truly dominates here overshadowing any beer quality. Bitter sweet lemons linger a bit on the finish. Honestly comes off as an overcarbonated, ripe lemonade wine cooler.

M: watery and razor thin. Wishy washy of sour lemonade lacing the tongue upon the swallow. Its as bad as it gets and should be a standard for a 1.0 rating.

D: This is an early dumper. Youll struggle and question anything beyond that. The trick here is to drink the beer rapidly, honestly don't even let it touch your tongue, just throw it down the back of your throat to limit its offensive nature, which is the only way I could manage to continue drinking this. Choose one of the other lemonade or beer to quench your thirst, sometimes the best of both worlds really isnt.

A. Poured a white cranberry, clear color with a one finger white head. Ample lacing on the glass.

S. Lemon, liquor almost smells like lemon cello

T. Malt beverage, like Mikes hard lemonade, not much lager flavor here. The lable says lager mixed with lemonade.

M. Light bodied, light carbonation. Fizzy.

D. I think this beer will apeal to younger drinkers. The sweet taste masks the malt and alcohol. If you like to drink something that doesn't taste like beer this one is for you.

I rounded out a mix-a-six by throwing in this beer from Saranac that I had not tried previously. The label has a picture of bear lounging on it and it says "summer brew" and it is summertime, so I said "why not?" I did not realize until after the purchase that this is more of blended beer/hard fruit beverage. Anyhow, it poured a yellow color in my pint glass with a thin fizzy head. It smells sweet, some lemons, sugar, faint booze to the smell. It tastes tart, malty, sweetness along with more of the lemon. Mouthfeel is actually kind of pleasant and does work for a warm summer day. Drinkability is average, certainly more drinkable than a Smirnoff Ice or the like. Not a good beer, but an average fruit beer on a warm summer day.

Pours out with the lightest shade of pale yellow gold I've ever seen in a brew, it's a few spectrums away from Bud light. Head forms with tight bubbles, and sticks around for quite a bit, chunky uneven lace clings to my pils glass. Aroma sharp lemongrass with a heavy lemon peel nod as well, but not much malt or herbal hops going on. Drinks like a Mike's hard lemonade with less cloying sweetness a sugary blast of lemony tartness, tastes like it good induce some diabetes or at the very least a toothache. Really not offensive to me after one and it drinks relatively smooth, never had any other blended beers I'll have to try the real thing in Germany some day to compare. Mouthfeel is super light alcohol is non existent, background light beer with heavy lemon concentrate. I don't know about this one I don't think I could drink this in number or if I want to drink this any time soon.

Bought one 12oz bottle in a mix pack. Poured into a 20oz Otter Creek glass.

Looks...yellow. Not much head. Plenty of bubbles.

Smells...weird. Lemonade contrasts with the coarse malt and hop aromas. You won't miss anything drinking this from the bottle

Tastes...better than I'd expected. Sweet and sour combined with the malt and hops. It grows on you

Mouthfeel...Nicely carbonated

Drinkability...Quite high. Nothing fancy here, but a nice refreshing drink.

Not really a complicated beer by any stretch, this beer has more flavor than the usual 'malt beverages' that taste like lemonade. I might buy a case for a party but probably wouldn't go out of my way to find it.

Pours a clear yellow with good amounts of carbonation. Head is not really apparent.

Aroma is lemons..I don't get much beery qualities from this

Taste is lemonade with a grainy finish. Tart

Mouthfeel is light and crisp

Drinkability and final thoughts..

This is a fruit beer. I know some might be tempted to dislike it because they had some Arrogant Bastard the night before (a beer I love)..but this isn't trying to be that. For the style, and for what it is trying to achieve, it works. It isn't meant to be overly complex, it isn't really meant to be extremely "beer" like. It gets the basic beer aspect there..and then achieves more with the fruit additive to make for a summer refresher. And it does just that. And its because of this that will cause my rating to be much higher than the average.

So enjoy it. I wouldn't go out and buy a lot of these (I personally like my beers with more complexity), but I won't knock it down because I don't like it as much as the Stone Pale Ale I had last night.

Pours a four finger white head that fades quickly leaving some lace. Crystal clear pale amber color. Light-medium carbonation and light bodied. Light lemon nose. Flavor is more lemonade than lager, lemon finish, almost like an English shandy. Too sweet for a real beer. $1.50 for a 12oz bottle from Beverage Warehouse Winooski, VT.

So this is that lager and lemonade beer I've heard so much about.

The appearance is straw yellow. No head. See through. Lame-ass.

The smell is pure Budweiser with lemonade. Has the rice-laden, corny aroma of a lite lager, with the secondary sourness of a lemonade. Interesting but I'm not dying for a sip.

The taste is a crisp, light lager in the first sip. Ends on a tart, sour note. The lemonade taste is soooo much better than the lager taste, and I simply cannot recommend that. Might as well be a Smirnoff Ice.

Actually has a decent body. More like a lemonade than a lager. Finishes clean but not watery. It might be easy to absently sip away at this, but it's not a good beer by any stretch. It is, however, a decent lemonade.

Possibly the palest beer I have every poured. Almost clear. 2-finger frothy pale head. No retention. No lacing. Very fine bubbles present.

Nose is very sweet, but faint. Mailnly picking up lemon zest.

Sweet and thicker than expected. I'm getting honey more than lemons here. Zestiness in the finish that definitely suggests the lemonade.

On another hot day here in NC, this is actually pretty refreshing. If the weather cooperates, it's worth a try - but hold off for a hot day.

12oz bottle served in a Saranac pint glass.

Clear golden yellow color with a bit of fizz (not really a head, per say).
Light and lemony, some type of spices, sort of like lemon/gingerale.
Lemon/Gingerale - bingo!
Light, crisp and refreshing and extremely easy to drink if you just remember...
That this is NOT 100% beer, it's a German Radler*

*Brewers Notes:

"For nearly 100 years, Europeans have mixed lemonade and beer as a refreshing beverage during the summer months.
We continue this tradition with Saranac Summer Brew.
A refreshing blend of lemonade and lager.
Kick back, relax and enjoy!"

Pours a light blonde color with mild carbonation and a one-finger head into my glass.

Aroma is full of sweet and grainy malt with only a tiny hint of anything else.

Taste is the standard lager feel with a strong amount of lemon in the middle. Very kool-aid like and it totally ruins any beer flavor in this.

Mouthfeel is full of lingering lemon and sweet/grainy malt. Not much else. Too sweet.

Why do they need to make a beer like this? Saranac has the potential to make better stuff.

Avoid this beer at all costs. It smells like someone dumped Country Time Lemonade in a Bud can, and if you could believe it, it probably tastes worse. The smell is that of a sour or skunked macro lager. The flavor is macro lager with super sweet, syrupy lemon Italian ice flavor. I wish I knew what Saranac was thinking? At least they had the decency to label it a "Brew" and not an ale, lager or beer.

Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into a clear plastic cup at Mt. View in Naugatuck.

A: Poured a very light, golden yellow color with a slight chilled haze. A thin layer of wispy white carbonation forms on top.

S: Smells fairly grainy with a lot of fruity, lemon zest and juice aromas and little to no floral hops.

T: Taste is straight up sparkling wine; like a chardonnay or pinot grigio with more of a malty, flat beer flavor. Very sweet and citusy, not sour, but sweet and malty and sort of gross ... for the moment.

M: Mouthfeel is super light, a little chewy from he fermentables and citrus sugars used here.

D: It would have to be a super hot day and very specific company to put this "brew" down. The Saranac rep told me this "chamblay" style brew is made with lemonade and a golden lager. Part of that is correct, anyway. Sip and see for yourself.

The beer/lemonade pours a pale gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a dry, lemony scent along with a solid lager aroma. It smells like it sounds lager with lemonade added. The taste is decent as well. I'm trying to keep an open mind about this brew. It's crisp and clean with a dry lemonade taste. The lager waters it down, but the lemon aspect rules the palate. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a refreshing beer. I think it's a little heavy on the lemon flavor.

A - Very light golden color that is clear to see through. Little to no head. Has very minimal lacing that last for a quarter of the beer.

S - Smells exactly as described on lable. Strong smell of citrus and lemonade flavorings.

T - Taste like a very light beer with... you guessed it lemonade. I've never had a beer like this before. If you don't like lemonade, or lemons for that matter this isn't for you.

M - Huge gulps not recommended. More of a wine cooler feel to it.

D - Very easy to drink. It's like lemonade on a hot day. I think it's great if you want to drink a ton in the sun and not get drunk and dehydrated. You could drink 30, but I don't know how you could before you overdosed on citrus and vomitted.

Saranac Summer Brew (Lager and Lemonade) is a clear, pale straw color with a thin white ring for a head. The aroma is of lemon and perhaps a touch of skunk. It is thin, bubbly and smooth with a sticky finish. It's sweet, like sweet tea or Countrytime lemonade. It tastes like someone spilled a little beer in a glass of lemonade that came from a can.

Had this on tap at my local beer stop during an Ubu tasting.

Pours a clear golden yellow with a thin finger of white head, almost no retention.

Smell is strongly of lemonade with a mild wheat.

Taste is very crisp, and not as strongly lemonade as one would think. Mild wheat blends with a lemonade sweetness, malty finish. Much more refined than Leinenkugels Summer Shandy, this tastes more like a summer lager with lemonade added as a small final thought.

Mouthfeel is very crisp and smooth, light bodied.

Drinkability is average. This isn't a bad beer but the style isn't for me.

The idea of a beer-lemonade mix doesn't really appeal to me, so perhaps I shouldn't have bought this beer. However, I love Saranac, so I figured I'd give this beer a shot. I have to say, this is the first Saranac that I really have flat out disliked.

Appearance - Pours very pale, which is to be expected given its beer-lemonade hybrid-status.

Smell - overpowering, sweet lemon.

Taste - Far sweeter than I expected, even for a beer & lemonade mix. The sugar is overpowering. It totally kills the palate, and even left me feeling a bit nauseous.

Mouthfeel - light, and very carbonated. Did Saranac pump carbonation into the lemonade? Something doesn't feel right. That carbonation is so intense that you can actually feel a lively bubbling on your tongue, almost like a toned-down version of Pop Rocks.

Drinkability - even on a hot day, one is more than I want.

Bottom-line: if you like really sweet beer-hybrids, give it a go. I'll be the first to admit that I generally don't like sweet beers, so I'm not surprised that I didn't like this one. However, be forewarned: this beer failed to meet my low expectations for a beer-lemonade mix.
