This is the first Saranac beer I have tried and it just seemed pretty average to me.
It pours a dark brown with huge soda pop bubbles that diminish, making this look like a glass of cola...not very impressive at all.
The aroma has very faint chocolate notes, but I detect a sickly grainy backdrop that seriously interferes with the appreciation of the beer.
The taste is mild, mellow chocolate malt with a hop bite in the finish, but the beer seems to have a rather weak body for the style.
Overall--nothing I would look for again in a beer....
