Standing 4059' above sea level, one of the Adirondack high peaks, Porter Mountain, is the inspiration for our 4059' Porter that is full of roasted flavor. Brewed with English chocolate malt and English hops, you'll taste roasted coffee and chocolate flavors from the malt balanced with a slight hop bitterness. Whether you're up at 4059' or at sea level, this style will have your taste buds climbing with excitement!

Out of a variety pack poured into a pint glass...

Overall this is not terrible, but not really up to what I've come to expect from FX Matt

It felt a bit on the carbonated side for a Porter. The head was quite nice but didn't last too long. The glass was nicely laced t the end though. It feels a little light for a porter, but tastes like a porter. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm a bit confused on this one and have mixed emotions. Bottom line, don't be afraid of it in a mix pack. I intend to give this another try, and will update this if necessary.

Part of the 12 beers of winter variety pack

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Sierra Nevada Imperial Pint glass

The beer pours nearly black with mahogany highlights. A smallish tan head recedes quickly and leaves very little lacing.

The aroma is lightly roasted malts, coffee, and some chocolate. Somewhat mild but pleasant

Like the aroma, the flavor is roasted malts and chocolate with some coffee notes. Not nearly as much coffee in the flavor as in the nose. Medium bodied, carbonation is spot on for the style

Overall, the beer is pleasant and very drinkable, but is somewhat forgettable.

Pours dark. Tan foam. Malty aroma. Toasted chocolate body. Slightly sweet. A little smokey. No big flavors but solid all the way through. Better than expected.

Mahogany with a 1/2" tan head, which slowly fades. Light lacing.

Aroma is coffee, roasty, chocolate.

Taste is coffee, roast malt, chocolate.

Thin body, moderate carbonation. Dry, astringent finish.

A bit thin for a Porter. Good beer none-the-less.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip pint glass. Pours nearly black with a medium tan head. Aroma and flavor feature roasty malts, earthy hops, light chocolate, and bitter coffee. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated and fairly dry. Overall it's a solid standard English porter.

I got a bottle of this beer from my bestie whilst in Kentucky for New Years. It poured an opaque dark amber with off white head that disappeared quickly leaving no head. The scent had subtle roast, milk cocoa and vanilla. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with subtle vanilla, roast and root beer. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Has a nice musty smell and a deep coffee look in the pour, but the head is gone in an instant. Has a smokey taste that is malty and hoppy, but with a smooth finish. It's an OK beer, but nothing special.

Probably the best offering from Saranac. Black body, creamy head. Tastes of decent roasted malts, and good hops accompaniment. The carbonation is a bit harsh for a porter. The yeast does not impart a good flavor, fruity esters and a strong alcohol taste that is surprising for a low abv beer.
