Pours the darkest brown. Actually black. Black in beer is such a dark brown. A ruby highlight and tan head of creamy foam that fell quickly. Clear.

Hops are English Golding, Northdown and Fuggles

Nose is huge caramel and plenty of roasty malt. Coffee like impression. Hops are a moderate presence. They give a woody softness and gentle spice. There's a light chocolate that's also soft. Dark fruit lightly in the background. What is giving this nose sweetness is floral form those hops. Just outstanding hops presentation. Malt has a lightly blackened quality. A burnt edge if you will but no harsh flavors. Nothing astringent or acrid. Roasty flavors. Strong dry and bitter. Caramel is smooth but the roasty malt won't let you see too much sweetness form it. Bitter chocolate and a bitter hop finish this one to show some nuttiness and a roasty dryness. Exemplary in every way. The definition of robust in the robust porter.

Appearance: Dark as cola, not much head, lacing good
Smell: Caramel, roasted grains bit burnt.
Taste: Porter like bit like a Stout as well.
Might get again.

I had high hopes for this beer but was disappointed for sure. The beer poured a nice black color with a falling nice head. However the head was gone really only after like 3 swigs. The beer tasted flat to me and my wife. However the beer smelled bready and fresh? The beer had a bit of bitter after taste. I really got no goodness out of this beer and while it was drinkable it will not be on my buy again list.
