Pours yellow-gold with a modest but respectable head that subsides into intermittent lace. NB: Head holds better in a pilsner glass than in a pint glass. Steady, medium-light carbonation.

Fairly clean in the nose, a little grainy malt and a little hop spice. In the mouth, very smooth without being either slick or fizzy. Up front, a nice graininess, with a light sweetness that's quickly pushed aside by a great little hit of hops in the finish - somewhat grassy, spicy, not too obtrusive but definitely noticeable. I love the balance of this brew, and it's one of the few I've ever had that I consider genuinely refreshing. This pairs well with almost anything, but especially with lighter lunch fare - a ham sandwich on wheat was just lovely.

This is one I feel I should have reviewed by now and am liking more and more. I don't remember being wowed by this when I first tried it - maybe Fritz has tweaked the formula since then, but it's definitely grown in my esteem. I'm happy to have such a solid local alternative to BMC.

Clear light gold color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of mild sweet malt and floral hops.

Taste is mild to mid malt with a spicy kick from the hops. Some elements of yeast bread and fresh hay with a dry, crisp finish.

Liight-mediuum texture with balancing carbonation.

Clean, pleasant take on a food and company friendly lager.

Rahr's Blonde has a thick, white head, a hazy, yellow-gold, bubbly appearance, and minimal lacing. Aroma is of sweet malt and faint, yeasty bread. Taste is of sweet, pale malt, sweet, white bread, and grassy hops. Mouthfeel is medium, and Rahr's Blonde finishes mostly dry and crisp.

Poured into a glass from a can.

A - Pours a clear straw, forming a very thin white head, with no lacing. Steady stream of carbonation through the drink.

S - The aroma of bready malt dominates the nose.

T - Taste is dominated by the malts, with a very doughy taste coating the palate. There is a slight metallic tinge in the finish, followed by just a hint of hop bitterness. The taste of the malts remains long after the finish, becoming a tad bit cloying.

M - Light mouthfeel with good carbonation.

O - Overall, a good light lager, but lacking a bit in complexity compared to the German varieties available.
