I got this off a self made mixed six pack from Super Target in Frisco. It poured an opaque dark with thin ercu head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of roast. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation Overall it's a solid beer.

This is the darkest lager I've ever seen. Beer pours a tea color with a white head. The flavor is nice and smooth and malty. Overall this is my first "black" beer and I like it.

Poured out a semi-opaque, jet-black color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled roasty with hints of chocolate. Nice roasty flavor with sweet chocolate and toffee.

Dark brown/red . Aroma didn't come off strong and distinct but could detect roasted malt. Taste was similar, bitter roasted malt with a definite bitter finish. Not my usuall style but it was a pleasant experience and was something I would try again

Pours a red hued brown color, very clear. A thin ring of beige foam, decent cling to the glass.

Smell...not too much there. Vaguely sweet, mildly roasted malt. Faint vanilla and a decent chocolate smell.

The taste is light. Roasted malt without the acrid bitterness that can happen with a porter or stout. Sweetness, some vanilla, and a definite chocolate finish. Caramel-like sweetness, but not overly sweet. Does show the lager characteristics, and there is a bit of a licorice note that develops by the end of the glass.

Feel is lively at first, but feels quite chalky after the fact. Drinks pretty light.

Overall this is a serviceable beer. More refreshing than a porter or stout and that works for a hot day like today.

a nice low alcohol dark lager here that has plenty of lager yeast flavor to it and brings a sturdy dark grain complexion without being too intense. this is a real session sort of dark beer, and not just because of its low strength. the bitterness that usually comes with such a full roasty grain flavor like this is somehow absent here, and there is a slightly sweet cocoa character as well that works nicely with the coffee suggestion in the more roasted barley. there is a european vibe to this, maybe the yeast, maybe the slight oxidation my bottle has (got lost in the fridge a little bit), but it all comes together pretty well. not as distinct as some, and certainly more mellow, but i like being able to taste the lager yeast as it dries the beer out before the finish. there is a bready earthiness about it, and a smoothness i like a lot for how mild the beer is on the whole. i havent had much from these guys, but it seems like the cover the basic styles pretty completely and pretty well. this isnt going to change the world, not even close, but its a fine american take on a style we dont see enough of. enjoyed it thoroughly, and rather quickly, this one goes down like the breeze, especially for its color...
