Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. No freshness date.
A: Hardly any head on the pour at all, even with a fairly rapid pour. Left minimal lacing on the glass. Looks more like a pale ale than a hefe weizen in the glass as far as color and clarity go.
S: Nice blend of wheat malt with a good amount of honey and banannas as well.
T & M: Great balance of wheat flavor combined with honey, banannas and just a hint of alcholol towards the middle to end of the sip that nicely rounds things out. The mouthfeel is fairly light, but certainly not watery. Obviously, since this is a summer brew, this is a good thing for the style.
D: A damn fine drinkable beer. I remember having this on tap back in the summer, and it tasted awesome! Actually, it's 60 degrees right now in Central Texas as I write this, and I just got finished working out. A great tasting thirst quenching brew that goes down easy yet is still complex enough to be interesting. Next summer, this will be (besides Sam Adams Summer Ale) one of my staple brews.
Note: As for the lack of head, I'm wondering if it's due to the beer being a little out of date.

Summer Time Wheat is a quite typical Hefeweizen except for the slight tartness and overall more moderate flavors. It is a pretty decent local Hefeweizen but it is not Weihenstephaner.
Look: semi-clear yellow with a thin white head
Aroma: wheat, yeast, banana
Taste: The flavor is wheat, yeast, some citrus, banana, maybe cloves.
Body/Overall: light body

A wheety grain, has the slightest of sourness in the end. Bannana and flavor from the yeast. Grains control.

Pours an effervescent gold with a thumb+ of eggshell colored head. Zero head retention & lacing
S: Green appleskins & a little pear
T: Follows the nose, a touch of grassyness, a kiss of cloves & yeastyness up front. Some green banana comes through as this warms, band-aids & dryness too. Finishes dry, with green banana & a touch of clove
MF: Light body, firm carbonation, carbontion smooths out as this warms
A tasty enough hefe lacking some asthetics

an extremely pedestrian beer here, and a lackluster example of the style. there is something kind of cheap and off about it, and i have to work to finish a single can a little bit. its almost flat on the pour, the right color, but lacking the bright shine i like to see, no head at all after it first settles. aroma is sharp, lightly phenolic, even astringent for a moment, and the yeast seems to have been fermented warm enough that some of these flaws developed, which to me appears to be a relatively amateur mistake for a professional brewer to make, but there could be other sources of this beers mediocrity. i get the banana and clove, but i also get rotting lemons and oranges, intense white pepper and wine. these are not flavors i like very often, and especially not in a beer trying to be a traditional hefeweizen. its wheaty and it smells and taste fresh, so those basics are covered, and i even enjoy the intentional lightness of the whole thing, but overall this is really average beer, even less than average, and is a far cry from the best beers in the style. dont waste your time on this one (unless my can was somehow compromised and this is actually good, but it sure doesnt seem that way)...
edit: had it from the bottle recently and liked it a little better, raising a few scores a little. its still nothing special, but its bubbly and wheaty and simple. hot weather drinker, nothing more. drink fresh, it falls off fast...

Cloudy amber color, kind of disappointing head for a wheat. Definitely has all of the tradition Bavarian wheat characteristics of banana, clove, and wheat. But it is on the sweet side and has a lot of lemony character, a bit too much for my taste. Overall not bad, but not great either.

Appearance: A hard pour builds a one inch head on the cloudy goldenstraw liquid; spots of lacing linger as the head fades
Smell: Banana, circus peanuts and a hint of clove
Taste; Banana and circus peanuts foward, with the clove building; rye spice and sweeter bubblegum flavors build, after the swallow, though the finish is dominated by the sweeter elements
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; somewhat creamy
Overall: A pretty good job with the flavor profile though perhaps a bit sweeter than I would like; the mouthfeel gets close but a bit more carbonation would help
Thanks, Texasfan549, for the opportunity
