Stopped by here to pick up some beer for a trade and decided to eat dinner there as well. I was a little shocked by the food menu but I'll get to that in a minute.
The place is kind of divided into 4 sections, one section is a fine dining section, another is a nice bar that looks over the street, another is a smaller room between the bar and the fine dining with an old disabled fireplace, the last is down stairs that screams divebar. We stayed in the center room of the place. We had to order at the bar but at least our food came out to us. Do not go here expecting to order something you typically can order from a pub or bar. Its all pretty exotic. We got the mussels and later some fries. Our fries came out after about 20 minutes, totally slow. The bar tender had too much energy and would frequent try and fail to finish my sentences, I guess to save time?
The food was expensive but the beer was pretty reasonable. They have several beers made on premises available on draft. Their bottle prices are a little unreasonable but overall its a nice place but I doubt I will frequent it.

So, we are still in the grip of a pandemic, so the menu is truncated and outside is really the only reasonable option at the moment so I will try to come back when they have hopefully fully reopened and try the famous downstairsbar vibe and sit in the classy interior. Last night split a salad and veggie burger with my date, a longtime Baltimore resident who had been here many times before. The beer menu was also limited but both the options we tried seemed good. The neighborhood is a little developing but this place has definitely established itself.

The place that introduced me to Belgian brewing. Nice setup in an historic building - bar upfront, lounge area beyond that, cosy dining area in back, and a seperate bar downstairs w/a VERY different feel. Draft beer selection is limited to a half-dozen of their beers (brewed onsite?) - a couple of favorites and several seasonals (w/liberal tasting). There's also an impressive selection of liquors which the staff is happy to help you with. The food is definitely a step above "pub grub", but there almost always seems to be one ingredient too many.

Going on fuzzy, 10+ year old memories of this place. Remember really enjoying the downstairs bar place, where between the two of us we had everything on the menu. By the time we walked upstairs for our dinner seating, I was a little tipsy. But remember everything being good in a surprisingly classy place.

The Brewer's Art is split into two spaces- a top restaurant with table service and a bar, and a bottom basement area with low lighting and a casual vibe. Service has always been solid in both sections. Beer is mostly Belgian styled, brewed by the establishment. Not a huge selection but satisfactory. Food is enjoyable, well prepared. Its a cool place for a bite and a few beers but certainly not a must stop for those from out of town.

A nice change up to a traditional craft beer bar. Very relaxed space with artsy vibe. About 5 Brewer's Art offerings on draft; all are quality beers. Food is a mix of charcuterie and light plates. Was glad to come here and I'd be back if the opportunity presents itself.

Beer was great and the appetizers were tasty. Plan on going to see if their dinner is as good as their beer.

Visited for the first time as a Valentine's Day present. (Hey, I thought that was pretty clever.) No indication from the street that it's anything - no sign, no lights, no nothing. Once inside, you enter the bar first (always a good sign), then a nicely appointed Victorian sitting room, and last but not least the dark, walnut-paneled dining room. Lots of original woodwork - if you like atmosphere, this is the place for you. It's like reentering the 19th century. Service was outstanding, food was great, and the beer selection was great. What more can you ask for? Young crowd, but noise level was surprisingly low. We'll definitely return.

Everything was fantastic but it was strange there were only five taps. Relatively good selection of bottles but would have liked to see more than five beers on tap.

First time; didn't know what to expect. Went on a rainy Tuesday evening and happy:surprised to see place pretty busy.
Upstairs was a Victorian laid out old world high ceiling home converted into a small street side bar; followed by small lounge; followed by restaurant. Classy, linen and formal lay out seating. Seemed like turn of the century Baltimore met a first class French/Belgian brasserie/restaurant.
Having said that...bar was noisey, lively, young and fun. Bar itself was small but well appointed with top shelf liquor and cocktails to complement the house brews and solid very good bottle list of only top notch breweries and beers. Good bartenders who took time to talk beer despite busy night with more cocktails than beer pours.
Then you went downstairs...
Dark...I mean dungeon dark. Can't see beer; can't see people; can't see food. Very cool Alt Rockin; still busy and noisey.
In both cases...it was about the crowd; not about the beer.
Menu was great/very interesting.
Had veal pate with fennel and mustard. Outstanding. And went perfectly with the seasonal Charm City Sour Cherry.
Hey, all in all this is a great place. Beers, food, people and upstairs all were set to make a great experience. Downstairs is just fun.
But fill either/both with a night time young city crowd and you just get a fun bar. Dig it if that's what you're into. Come a little earlier ... or maybe much later... and you will probably get a beer place.
Recommended for either.
