We were drawn here by the reviews regarding the high quality of their Belgian beers. I have to say, we tried Resurrection, Sublimation and Ozzy. Each of the beers to me had the right malt bill for Belgians, but all lacked the yeast characteristics that I expect in a Belgian beer. None had the esters or alcohol notes that I expect in Belgians. The fruitiness just wasn't there.

The architecture of the bar is amazing, very nice old world feel.

The food was very good, a bit pricey, but well worth it. We visited alot of other bars in Baltimore, this definitely was the best beer bar we visited. The beers just weren't the Belgian style we were expecting.

Beer was great and the appetizers were tasty. Plan on going to see if their dinner is as good as their beer.

Visited for the first time as a Valentine's Day present. (Hey, I thought that was pretty clever.) No indication from the street that it's anything - no sign, no lights, no nothing. Once inside, you enter the bar first (always a good sign), then a nicely appointed Victorian sitting room, and last but not least the dark, walnut-paneled dining room. Lots of original woodwork - if you like atmosphere, this is the place for you. It's like reentering the 19th century. Service was outstanding, food was great, and the beer selection was great. What more can you ask for? Young crowd, but noise level was surprisingly low. We'll definitely return.

Everything was fantastic but it was strange there were only five taps. Relatively good selection of bottles but would have liked to see more than five beers on tap.

First time; didn't know what to expect. Went on a rainy Tuesday evening and happy:surprised to see place pretty busy.
Upstairs was a Victorian laid out old world high ceiling home converted into a small street side bar; followed by small lounge; followed by restaurant. Classy, linen and formal lay out seating. Seemed like turn of the century Baltimore met a first class French/Belgian brasserie/restaurant.
Having said that...bar was noisey, lively, young and fun. Bar itself was small but well appointed with top shelf liquor and cocktails to complement the house brews and solid very good bottle list of only top notch breweries and beers. Good bartenders who took time to talk beer despite busy night with more cocktails than beer pours.
Then you went downstairs...
Dark...I mean dungeon dark. Can't see beer; can't see people; can't see food. Very cool Alt Rockin; still busy and noisey.
In both cases...it was about the crowd; not about the beer.
Menu was great/very interesting.
Had veal pate with fennel and mustard. Outstanding. And went perfectly with the seasonal Charm City Sour Cherry.
Hey, all in all this is a great place. Beers, food, people and upstairs all were set to make a great experience. Downstairs is just fun.
But fill either/both with a night time young city crowd and you just get a fun bar. Dig it if that's what you're into. Come a little earlier ... or maybe much later... and you will probably get a beer place.
Recommended for either.
