Grisette
Learn more about the Grisette style of beer.
A historical Belgian ale possibly dating back to the late 18th century. A variation of a Saison or a farmhouse ale usually brewed with malted barley and a small percentage of wheat in the grist. A tart light bodied ale usually lightly to moderately hopped. Light to yellow in appearance. Mildly tart with lactic acid not overpowering flavors of spice, esters, cloves, and others that can be found in a Saison. Highly drinkable at low alcohol and can be compared to traditional Belgian table beers, French Bière de Garde, and German Gose. The term Grisette - meaning a "little gray one" may have originated from the miners that were known to consume the beer or from the gray outfits of servers in local pubs.
