The West Coaster SD did a short piece about Poorhouse to expose the owner's shady past:

    http://www.westcoastersd.com/pdf/wcNov2012.pdf Page 24.

The more people I talk to the more are still irate this guy somehow got a license together after the fiasco and flat out ripping people off he did while in charge of Firehouse. Didn't realize he was divorced but that may tie into his creepy drooling over his bartenders. This clown is not loved by the local beer industry.

Coincidentally enough, that same issue has an article on El Cajon Brewing declaring Chapter 11.

    DRAMA!!!

ha, I saw that as well. Now if we can only tie in Airdale brewing to those that closed/are closing.

Was their any buzz about that? I recall that they pretty much disappeared at the beginning of 2012, but I don't remember much drama behind that.

No drama that I'm aware of. They were contract brewing and just didn't have a good business plan IIRC and flamed out. Sort of a San Diego tradition for breweries to go down in epic flames of ill will and court cases.

I'm sure PoorHouse will suffer a similar FireHouse II fate, lord knows the beer they're producing on "their brewhouse made entire of scrap metal", toss in a few sexual discrimination/workplace suits and boom: drama drama drama.

So can we look forward to a joint venture of casting couch brewing between Stephan Meadows and Christopher Finch once both ECBC and Poor House go down in flames?

If this place caught fire I bet the fire dept would only insure neighboring buildings didn't burn down.

Haha they got killed in WC. Slutty looking bartenders can hold some restaurants open, a brewery - I doubt it.

    Christopher Finch method of profit:

    1) get investors, including your brothers the firemen
    2) open brewery, lie to people they're supporting their local firefighters by purchasing your product
2a) brew a boring pale and hefe.
    3) short sell your kegs to fuck over other breweries and obtain tap space
    4) fuck over distribution truckers (see article)
    5) get a massive fine from TX for running beer into the state BEFORE you're licensed there
    6) Open a larger brewery
    7) Investors wonder where their profit is? So do the firefighters.
7a) screw over your investors and the firefighters
    8) Get kicked out of your own company
    9) New owners realize the who operation is so fucked No One will brew for them and the equipment is fucked
    10) bankruptcy& liquidation
    11) divorce
    12) angry villagers don't forget and keep a torch lit and a pitchfork handy

    13) rear your ugly head, create a new brewery based on a shoe string budget, scrap metal brewhouse and again make bad beer and instead of using firefighters to sell company, use young women.

I believe you are thinking about the Firehouse in SJ that sells atomic wings that can actually turn your ass into firehouse the next morning. Right?

I thought Brent Musberger taught us its not creepy to find attractive young women to be attractive!

Anyways, we've got a long bad traders list. . . time to start a bad owners list I guess!

Yep, and the beer/business plan sounds exactly the same: hire hot chicks who know jack shit about beer to sell half-assed product.

the fact that there are profiles of the bartender girls on their webpage really creeps me out. its basically hooters level stuff. totally average beer and the place looks stupid and is way too bright.

Complain all you want, I walk by this place 3 or 4 times a week. It's always loud and packed in there.

I wonder how much of their own beer they sell? Seriously, if they didn't even bother to brew their own beer, wouldn't they be better off?

This is a PSA as to why BA's should avoid the place, and spread the word.

I will go in to sample the house beer just to say I know for a fact they make shite, not just what I heard. However, I have no plans to do this anytime soon.
