A buddy of mine's birthday is quickly approaching.

I'm out in search of his favorite type of brew, a scotch ale, but more specifically something special and most likely barrel aged.

I've got plenty of Backwoods so I'm looking for some other options, maybe something in a large format.

Doesn't matter the distro as I'll trade for it if necessary.

Cigar City BA Big Sound....cant beat it and shouldn't be hard to trade for as its sitting on the shelves in the brewery. Only issue is your wallet as they go for $20 a bomber

Alesmith BA Wee Heavy would be a real treat. Cigar City Big Sound is a Scotch Ale aged in bourbon barrels and should be relatively easy toget. Dieu du Ciel makes a Scotch ale aged in maple syrup barrels.

It's is a great beer that started life as a limited release, but yet sat on their shelves for awhile. Should be easy to get via trade.

Flossmoor station Finlaggin was good. I think it was aged in Woodford reserve barrels.

Locally, Devil's Canyon brewed a BA version of their Full Boar Scotch Ale. It turned out to be infected, so the local tasting group dubbed it "Wild Boar."

It's actually pretty tasty, and reminds me of Cuvee de Tomme from Lost Abbey. I could probably find a bottle if you were really interested.
