Anyone know if Alesmith is going to continue churning out their special releases this year? They've had a lot recently with BA SS, BA Wee Heavy, Kopi SS, BA Numbskull, BA Kopi and BA Decadence. Is this going to be a regular thing this year or are they done until next year? Anyone know?

I know that it is much easier for them to do this since they added their new bottling line. I'm guessing you'll see another special release in late April at the latest.

I was told they plan to do special releases pretty much every month. Vietnamese coffee Speedway is in the pipeline...

Releases have been announced about once a month for the past few releases:

    Nov 2: BASS
    Dec 7: BA Wee Heavy
Jan 14: BA Numskull and Kopi SS
Feb 14: BA Decadence '11 and BA Kopi SS

Looks like we have a couple more weeks before the next one.

Might as well cut out the middle steps and ask my HR person to change my paychecks to say "Pay to the order of Peter Zien."

I typically like it more than BA Speedway. I think it is amazing.

I agree. I find it remarkable that they still have bottles for sale at the tasting room. I guess the Wee Heavy isn't a style for everybody.

If the latest version aged as well as previous, it's going to be a stellar beer. (though it's perfectly fine, fresh)

It depends on what you mean by "posted". You have to look at the bottles lined up for display. If you see the barrel aged Wee Heavy bottle sitting by the regular Wee Heavy bottle, it means that they are still selling it. I was there this Tuesday and it was still for sale.

Yeah, thought those were just display. I read the bottle list for sale... and there was nothing special on it. I actually asked about some that were ON the sale list and they said they were out. Then asked if anything else was for sale not on the list, they said no.

If they ran out at the brewery, just head over to KNB in Del Cerro. They had cases of the stuff for sale when I was there a couple weeks ago. Can't imagine it was a big mover, but call ahead before going to be sure.
