How many of you guys do this, and how many of you guys are like me and absolutely love fresh BA beers when the barrel is hot on the nose, palate, and mouthfeel. As the hot, boozy barrel notes calm down, so does my love for the BA stout. How do you guys feel about this?

I'm with you. I tend to love my barrel aged stouts fresh. There's something about the hot boozy bourbon that I just love. It could be that I like bourbon/whiskey in general, too. That probably helps.

I don't buy a lot of BA beers in part because, not being keen on corn liquor, I invariably put them in a cupboard in the hope that they'll lose their heat.

I like to sit on at least one bottle of a particular type for a while, but, yes, I find that as I age bottles to fade out some of their intense flavors, the bourbon goes too. Case in point, I have a bottle or two of Backwoods Bastard that are now five months old; they're much worse for the wear.

I tend to keep them in the cellar simply so I can wistfully gaze at my riches.

I agree, perfect night cap. The warming bite is very soothing

I would drink them all fresh if I could. Problem is I buy way more than I can drink. Cellar is bulging.

I tend to save most of my BA stuff for guests; no way am I going to polish off a whole bomber by myself (minus a few exceptions...). I just don't drink terribly often! I thoroughly enjoy those BA beers though, so I cellar them a bit. They usually don't stick around all that long.

Im lucky in that I live with my best friend and we're both beer nerds, so we always split these bombers, I couldnt image trying to drink a whole one either, I think a 12 oz pour of any of these gems is the perfect amount.

My drinking can't keep up with my buying. After having a year old espresso aged yeti, im going to try and consume coffee BAs as soon as I can. That yeti was not even close to as good fresh, which I had high hopes for and wa s a bit let down. I like to split these with a friend as well so I need to wait to open big bad baptist and BA santas little helper, which I have non BA of both and want to try them together. Looks like I need more drinking buddies

So I feel that I wanted to sit on them until I realized that with losing heat, you lose some luster. Il still buy them but not as much, its getting a bit ridiculous.

How bout non BAs? Some say they are good with age too

I like to save them for a rainy day, when my pockets are empty and my beer cellar is full!

I typically sit on them, but only because I could never drink one solo in one sitting (too rich for me) and I'd much rather share them

Absolutely. I also enjoy the taste of the alcohol in mixed drinks so...

I like boozey stouts, but with summer coming up, what's left will sit in the cellar until next winter. Of course in souther Cali our winter is pretty short, it's like 80-85 today. So im already craving some IPA.

My beers are my friends. I like to look at them, talk to them, and read them stories before tucking them in for bed. If I drank them all I wouldn't have any friends left.

I've bought little outfits for them to wear. I give them the choicest cuts of meat from my dinner table. And they get first choice of what tv shows to watch.

I love big boozy beers. As a plus, my husband won't steal sips if I say it's barreled.

Either way is fine by me. They're different, but I enjoy both.

I only sit on them until they hatch. It's not so bad if you lay them on their sides first.
