Going to be in the area soon. Any good bottle shops, brewpubs, etc? There's a Piggly Wiggly I hit up whenever I'm there that has a pretty solid bottle selection, but I was wondering if there are any other good places to go.

Last time I was in Kmart by the sea, which was last summer, there was nothing there. Unless something new has opened, the Pig is your best bet.

Got to visit the famed Piggly Wiggly a week ago. In addition to New South's new Lily the Great, I also found $2 Sam Adams Gose bombers and $5 St. Bernardus Prior 8!

How's Lily the Great? I was thinking about checking out the brewery.

I actually haven't opened the growler yet. It's a big beer, so I'm going to try to open that one with friends.

I haven't had the version brewed at New South, but I had the original homebrewed version and it was quite good.

And the answer to the original question is, as stated above, to stick with the Pig!

Lily is an awsome beer. Goes down smooth considering the 11.3ABV. The pig has plenty on tap and I know at the time Mellow Mushroom is serving it as well.

Lily is also on tap at Hurricane Maggie's (formerly For What It's Worth) and maybe the Crafty Rooster in Conway.

Besides those two places and the Mellow Mushroom, I'd also recommend Bumstead's (near the old Pavilion), Flying Fish (Barefoot Landing), Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery, as well as their Liberty Taproom. Damon's in North Myrtle has a pretty nice lineup, also.

I 2nd the fish. Great scenery, good food and beer selection. Also provide entertainment with throwing some fish around. The customer is the one throwing. Good laughs!

Just looked up the Flying Fish and it looks great. Not super close to where I'm staying but we're going to check it out.

Liberty Ale House, not as good at the one in High Point, but still has some good if spotty brews and really good chicken nachos.

Where are you staying? If you are Surfside or south, Quigley's brewery in Litchfield/Pawleys Island is a good stop. Its a typical small brew pub. Nothing amazing but if you are staying south of 544, its worth the trip down 17 vs. North for something different.

Quigleys has a great happy hour. The food is really tasty! Pawleys Island Tavern is also worth a stop if you're on the south end. Decent beer selection, good food and live music in a pretty cool setting.

The Liberty Steakhouse happy hour is hard to beat for a good deal on apps and beers. I'm pretty fond of the Buffalo shrimp. The beers have been improved with the change in brewer a couple of years ago. They had an enjoyable saison on the past summer.

Also agree with Flying Fish, had a few good beers on tap and I enjoyed the food.

I just hit Myrtle last night, and +1 for Hurricane Maggie's. and +1 for Lily the Great. Maggie's also had Founders All Day IPA on tap and a nice bottle selection.

Glad you were able to find some good brews in our fair town. Maggie's is doing a great job so far. These are new owners and they are committed to craft beer. Glad you liked the Lily. That was a true BA collaboration - johntangus and beerbyrd brought the recipe and brewed it with New South.
