I love great craft beer, teaching others, trying new beers, and home-brewing.

Beer snob to me just means beer diva. The Brewer makes a spread for the yeast and invited them over to get the lamp shades on and throw down. So yeast has a party and it's just their vomit, pee and poop that you're drinking. Remember that. While I love good beer, and BMC will not be turning up around my fridge, I was raised better so I won't turn down a BMC socially when it's all that's being offered.

I don't care for the snob title. To me that implies looking down upon others. I am perfectly comfortable with being a beer geek.

    Good for you beer geek.
I personally don't like to be defined by the things I enjoy.
Anyone whose passions define them as a person and have to bestow upon themselves stupid sounding titles, well I don't really care to be around them.

I personally just say that I like good beer. No silly titles.

If I had to choose: beer hunter (to use Michael Jackson's term). I like to travel in order to find, experience, and settle in with the beers I love.

I don't really give myself "titles" but many of my friends call me a beer geek. And my gf jokingly calls me a "hopster" from time to time. I do not embrace these names, they just make me shake my head more then anything... lol

We all have titles but that does not mean we are defined by them. Most of us have job titles but many of us prefer not to be defined by that either. You can certainly accept a title and not be defined by it, I think this is where your logic is flawed.

There is a difference between accepting a title that is applied to you by your employer and joyously applying a made up title such as "beer geek" to yourself when someone asks why you know something beer related.
