Any Lagunitas brew seems to get my attention. I haven't bought a beer they made that I didn't like. 3 and a half and change for 22oz is a steal.. especially the stronger stuff.

Just grabbed a couple of 4 packs of Bigfoot for 7.99 each. Also $10 for a 4 pack of founders Russian imperial stout. Lagunitas sucks for 9.00 a sixer is also nice. Too me those are great bargains for the type of beer they represent (barleywine, DIPA, and Imperial stout).

For non extreme beers I really like these 2:

Long Trail can typically be had for $12 a 12 pack which is also very good.

Berkshire brewing company is like $3.50 a 22oz.

The best deal is homebrew which is about 50 cents for a smaller beer or about $1 for a DIPA or imperial stout. If only I wasnt so intrigued to try other beers, I could say a lot of money just drinking some really solid homebrew.

but regular Unibroue around me is 1420 ml at $11 or 129 ml per dollar, so $5 will buy me 650 ml. TJ branded Unibroue is ~150 ml per dollar. If I want the Unibroue taste I'd rather pay the slight extra for the real thing - I bought a couple of bottles of their Christmastime "Vintage" ale and was way underimpressed.

Pricing mistake, go grab it. Should be $6 at least and some places here charge $7.

I'd love to have a job where the equivalent of an $18-$21 six pack is "cheap".

    Good to know.

I don't think I've seen any bottles of Southern Star anything yet, but I'll look. And if we don't have any here in B-CS, I visit Houston all the time and will get some there.

Between Real Ale, St. Arnold's, Karbach, Southern Star, Deep Ellum, Lakewood and Rahr & Sons, we've got a handful of decent options at relatively decent (to downright cheap) prices in Texas. We don't have Pliny or Heady, but I'm not complaining.

Ale Asylum has a number of notable beers, which offer great value; to name a few, Ambergeddon, Ballistic and Hopalicious, are ALL tasty and at around a $7.50 price point. I also like Central Waters Satin Solstice, which is the base beer for a number of outstanding BA stouts, 1414, 15, so on. It's also about $7.50.

Cheap is relative. Celebrator Doppelbock is fantastic and seems cheap compared to the stuff I usually buy.
