Is Dayman sought-after? Passed it up today when shopping :grimacing:.

Don't know much about this beer. This thread was actually the first time I've heard of it.

On a different note, doe anyone know if Backwoods Bastard is still available here in Pittsburgh? I'm assuming that it's only available in single bottles at random bars, but I was looking for maybe a 4-pack of it or so.

House of 1000 beers is tapping KBS and the doing a lotto to buy bottles after that on Saturday at 11am.

You have to buy a $10 draft for a chance to buy a $10 bottle.

I know you guys'll have no problem selling through it, Nate. Certainly don't fault the kind folk at Ho1KB a bit for making money. And compared to some other prices I've heard, apparently $10 a bottle/glass is reasonable. It just blows my mind, that's all. The latest example of hype/price exceeding the value of the beer.

    So yeah...no, not for me.

EDIT: In other words, I suppose my reaction above was more an indictment on KBS' popularity than Ho1KB - or any establishment charging high $ for KBS for that matter.

I remember a few years ago sitting at the bar at Ho1kB, enjoying (I think) $7 bottles of KBS. At the end of June. Months after it was released.

    Funny how things change.

Apparently Wexford GE landed a case no one knew about today. And by that I mean I don't think the staff (other than one guy who held a four pack for himself) knew what they had. Wouldn't be shocked often remaining 20 bottles all walked out with the same person. Bah, so close.

Man you are killing me. My wife was in there just after noon and saw the guy stocking beer and asked about Iron Throne. She looked at the cart but didn't ask about KBS as I think I gave her the impression that ship had already sailed.

How can something be overpriced if people are buying all of it?

Update - Correction, we will be auctioning off 4pk's of founders with a bottle of KBS in each pack until gone! pic.twitter.com/Xsi6N1CbUY

so you have to win the lotto and buy 3 other founders beers to then be able to buy 1 KBS.

No lotto. They'll just be periodically auctioning off 4-packs that each include 1 KBS, 1 Breakfast Stout, 1 Curmudgeon, & 1 Imperial Stout. The auction's open to anyone present.

Yeah I rolled in at about 2 and there was an empty box on top of the cart and got excited. All that was left was a four pack behind the counter for one of the workers. I already checked Cranberry and 7 Fields so no go there (so far).

I was told $15, & that there are 16 of these 4-packs. Should be interesting.

Are you saying that anything over lets say $8 for a bottle of KBS is not overpriced. I see what your trying to do here nate. Just because someone is willing to pay an inflated price for something doesn't mean that it still can't be overpriced.

I hear what you're saying, Sam, & I probably wouldn't pay double digits for a KBS, but that's my ceiling. And there's a difference between "someone" being willing to pay a seemingly high price for something & people buying out all the KBS in an entire region within a couple days. If it were overpriced, it would sit on the shelves & collect dust for a year. That's not happening. It's your opinion that it's overpriced (& perhaps mine, too), but the marketplace is apparently disagreeing with you, & that holds a little more water.

Or maybe they (those buying the overpriced KBS) just don't know any better. I'm sure there are people that don't shop around or "hunt" for it and just buy it wherever its most convienent. I would like to actually here peoples reasoning for paying a higher price for one of these

But they who "just don't know any better" still think it's worth pulling the trigger on a $10-$15 bottle, right? What reason do you expect to hear besides "It's an awesome beer"? That speaks for itself - it means that it's good enough for them to drop more coin on than you would.

Just admit that you're pissed off that more people are coming into this hobby & niche geeks like you & me have more competition than we did 4 years ago.

Also, did you ever consider that supply & demand are so unbalanced that retailers (aside from just making more money) might actually want to drive *down* demand a little, & so they bump up the price?
