Did a blind taste test with two friends earlier today with these three earlier to see if a favorite could be picked. They were all the most recent vintages. The results went as follows as far as preference:

    Me-
    1st. Black Note
    2nd. BCBS
    3rd. KBS

    Friends:
    KBS
    Black Note
    BCBS

And the final participant chose BCBS as his favorite, originally said KBS second, then changed his mind a few minutes later and said Black Note was his second choice. So for posterity's sake was anything learned? Absolutely not haha, three participants, three different favorites, but of course enjoyed the research. All I have for now, cheers

P.S. would have love to have central water's ba stout as a fourth competitor because I personally think it's right up there, but I only have one bottle left so going to hold on to it. I am however looking forward to see how the central waters bbbw fairs against sucaba and whiskey bigfoot.

I haven't had BCBS (and probably won't being in OH) but have had KBS and Black Note in the last 2 weeks. I enjoyed KBS but absolutely loved Black Note. Both are great, but the melding of barrel flavors into the base beers made Black Note taste and smell better to me. No wrong answer here for sure. It's a great thing to have variety and varying opionions. Imagine how hard the great beers would be to get if everyone agreed on the best!

Really don't know how you can have a "blind" taste test on these without knowing what they are when you taste. They are so different and descriptions of them are everywhere. Unless the tasters are unaware they even exist? I do however believe your favorites are real.

Without a doubt BCBS, it is so complex and full of flavor.

To keep it blind I poured for the two gentlemen, without telling them the order I poured in, then they wrote down their preferences for beers 1, 2, and 3 in order. Before telling them the order I had them pour for be in an unknown order. I picked my preferences then we discussed what order we had actually just poured. The KBS was the most unique of the 3 being it is the most coffee forward imo, but thoroughly enjoy all three, I enjoy choosing among great beers of the same, or similar styles, than trying to compare genres.

To me the BCBS is so strong with the bourbon at the front it overwhelms everything else. The Black Note to me was a perfect balance. I sadly can't comment on the KBS, however a friend whose palate is directly linked with mine gives the Black Note a slight edge over the KBS. I am looking forward to trying my 2012 BCBS next winter with a year in my cellar.

Should've tossed in a BBPT5 for this! All great beers though and all completely different in flavor.

I love all of them but I'd go

    KBS - Coffee / Chocolate
    Black Note - Smoothest
BCBS - Bourbony awesomeness but more one dimensional

I think those beers are all so different that I don't understand tasting them blind. It's sorta apples and oranges comparing KBS to BCBS.

Well, apples to oranges would be KBS to Two Hearted. This is more like Macintosh apples and Fuji apples.
