I have to be in LA for work between 4/8 and 4/11. My work is in the area immediately around LAX. I can book my hotel pretty much anywhere I want, within reason financially. I'd like to get a hotel that has good beer options within a short/moderate drive, but also where I won't get crushed by LA traffic trying to get back to the LAX area in the mornings. Any thoughts? Should I just get a hotel near LAX and adventure out in the evening? Really wanting to hit up a Beachwood BBQ because I've never been to any, not sure which would make the most sense to hit up. Also need to make it to the Bruery at some point to pick up allocations, but that could be on my way home on thursday. Thanks.

Four Points Sheraton is the LAX hotel to stay at for great beers if you decide to stay near the airport.

El Segundo Blue House Citra Pale Ale – ( Best Brew), hoppy pale ale brewed locally $7 (16oz)

Bootlegger’s Knuckle Sandwich – New Beer, very hoppy Double IPA from Fullerton, CA $7.5 (10oz)

Stone/Victory/Dogfish Head Saison du BUFF – a collaboration between three breweries. Belgian style farmhouse ale brewed with rosemary, sage, parsley, and thyme. $7 (16oz)

Sierra Nevada Celebrator 25th Anniversary Double Pale Ale – New Beer, Strong, hoppy beer brewed for the beer publication’s 25th Anniversary, 9.2% ABV, $8 (16oz)

Bear Republic Double Aught – Smooth, crisp Pilsner from Sonoma County, CA $7 (16oz)

From the LAX Four Points Sheraton you have (fairly) easy access to Najas, Beachwood, and Library Alehouse.

What's your definition of short/moderate drive

I know LA traffic is highly variable, but was thinking under 30-45 minutes, preferably less. Think I'll hit up beachwood one night, so probably don't want to drive much farther than that, but I'm always open to suggestions.

I was going to say stay at Hermosa Beach House. Najas in walking distance and Boogaloo Cafe has PTE. Also, tapas place on pier has nice selection of beer and there is an awesome Mexican place on pier with great food. No driving required for all of this places. Also, for work you can make it to LAX in 30 minutes.

Booked during my stay, and probably slightly over my preferred budget for work travel, but I may look at other hotels in that area, sounds nicer than staying by the airport. Thanks for the input.

Anybody know anything about the grandview inn? Is it a dive?

Look at Residence Inn in Manhttan Beach on Sepulveda. 1 mile from beach, some good craft selections down by water. You can also cab it or drive to Hermisa from there. Rates probably in your range there and rooms are pretty good there.

I'm in la now and staying at the four points Sheraton, any recs on the best beer spot to me to watch the game tonight, if I chose to leave the hotel bar.

Pretty sure they have several T.V.'s if memory serves, but Rock N Brews is very close to LAX, and also El Segundo Brewing is right across the street from Rock N Brews, under 4 miles, and 10 minutes from Four Points Sheraton.

i guess i'm too late for this thread.

i can see how staying near where you're going to be working makes it easy, but i would personally not recommend staying near LAX to anyone visiting LA. hope you get some chances to venture out of your area and check out some other parts. at least head to Santa Monica at some point, go to Father's Office. also, Venice Ale House has a pretty good list (and lot of ladies)

Thanks for all the info. I'm a life long CA resident and have spent my share of time in SoCal, so seeing the sights isn't all that necessary. I wanted to stay close to where my work will be, but I agree not the most picturesque area.
