I have a friend looking for the best canned beers available in NYC for a summer event.

New seasonal stuff would be more exciting.

Anyone have strong feelings on this?

    What kind of event?

Sixpoint Resin and 3Beans are my favorites of theirs, but I also really like the Righteous Ale and the Sweet Action. You can get all the Oskar Blues stuff here (Dale's and Little Yella Pils are everywhere, Ten-Fidy, Gubna, and Deviant Dale's can all be found with some looking), and 21st Amendment is pretty good. Bronx Brewery just started releasing 4-packs of their canned Pale Ale, but never had it. Founders All-Day IPA is also coming out in cans, but not sure of the release date.

Thanks, that's a great start! Especially interested in checking out the Sixpoint Resin and Bronx.

I also have picked up Legend and Blue Mountain Full Nelson from Virginia in NYC in cans. Recently a bunch of the Snake River beers have shown up in cans (like 5 or 6 different ones).

    Would this really count?

"they need to start bottling their IPAs asap"
"They're hoping to do 16oz cans of Head High and Overhead by the end of the year." (from another thread)

Depending on the type of event and crowd, Brooklyn Summer is a solid choice. Easy drinking, crowd pleaser.

I have heard they were hoping to do this for a while, but they are very small and the owner is a very smart businessman, I dont think hes going to take that leap until he knows its a financially sound move. I would love to see Kane can some of their IPAs but until he comes out and says that it is actually in the works I wouldnt put much stock into the idea.

Oh and speaking of NY canned beers for a summer event, Sixpoint's summer seasonal Apollo is really freakin good.

I think Sixpoint is the way to go. Someone mentioned 3 beans, but that is a one and done brew - and wont be available.

Resin is good, but it is a DIPA, and might not be right for a party - I would go with their main IPA - which is Bengali Tiger. I am a huge fan of Richetous Rye. Sweet Action is thier most popular, and this is always a crowd pleaser, whatever the level of drinker is at.

Bronx Pale is good, as mentioned above.

I wish Kelso canned, but they do not.
